Something failed!

Well the other day i was on the highway.I stepped on the car in 6th gear and the service engine light came on and the car was shaking.i would step on it and it would keep shaking.I had the jb3 on map5.I reset the chip and put it back on map 5 and it turned off and worked fine.Today my friend was driving his and the same thing happend except this time the light didnt turn of.What could this be???Thanks

yep, i'd be willing to bet you have the cylinder shut off code, happened to me too....i think the code is 29b9 or something like that. my car goes into the shop tomorrow for hopefully a hpfp replacement

But the car works fine.mine did it but I restarted the chip and the car and it turned off.His on the other hand didn't.and I haven't been having longs cranks or anything??

same here. lost power and the car shuttered.....restared and it's been fine ever since. scanned the car w/ the bt, had the cylinder shut off code. hpfp definitely

my car did the same thing about 4000 miles ago. Happened only once. Has seemingly gone away not to return (hopefully).

Sounds like a misfire code? Which would be plugs, coil, injector related. Just scan the car with a BT.

Change to a lower map?

This RARELY happens to me but HAS happened. I just restart the car while in motion and it goes away without me having to pull over and restart it.

This just happend to me yesterday i was at map 5 and i was going 110mph and my car just turns off. i pulled over and i turn it back on but everything starts shaking just like that i was able to get off the highway going 25mph and thats when it came out the (check engine soon) when i park in the nearest place i put the jb3 in map 0. today i took off my bov, intake and jb3 i went for a drive the check engine was still on and i think my turbos were not boosting cuz the car felt slow or is it that am use to the jb3 so now i have to get a bt scanner to take it in...

Yes alex i know.It was you that i was talking about in my thread.And mine hasnt done it ever since but i think im going to get the bt scanner pretty soon.Also if the car has the light and the codes would it be better to clear it before taking it in or just leaving it there for them to see???

I'm almost positive its the Fuel Pump, Same thing happened to me, I was on map 5, merging onto the freeway, punching it in 3rd when all of a sudden the car stuttered continuously and lost all power. I pulled over restarted the car with the Light on, then drove all the way back home, i couldn't do more than 60mph without it jumping around. took the jb3 out cleared codes, went for a drive, threw the codes again, and drove it to bmw. I had the pump replaced in a day and had my car back up and running.

Definitely sounds like a misfire, it's happened to me a few times now.
