abceverton> Does the 323i that is on special for $380K come with a sunroof?
The xenons and nav system are probably worth 70-80 grand alone (including tax)... more importantly, the 323i feels just a little bit sluggish compared to the 325i... an extra 28 horsepower is quite handy IMHO!! Also, the 325 has electric folding mirrors (handy to have in HK), anti dazzle rear view mirrors and front and rear parking sensors (323 only has rear)... combined with the iDrive system, you get a far more superior parking system with graphics (as opposed to beeping sounds without iDrive)... The 323 comes with butt-ugly 16 inch wheels; the 325 has style 161 17 inchers, which are acceptable in my opinion... Another thing you may wish to check for the E90 - the hifi loudspeaker system. The 323i coupe has 6 speakers but the 325i coupe comes with a 10 speaker "Hifi loudspeaker system" (but not the Professional Logic7)... As for myself, I was being a tight-a$$ when I purchased my Mercedes C230 Touring. For around HK$70K more, I could have got a C280 Touring with Xenon headlamps, LED tail lights and staggered wheels (245 at the rear)... and metallic paint and sunroof were also standard in the C280. Most importantly, the C280 has 27 more horsepower, which makes a hell of a difference *regrets*!!! On the other hand, my E92 323i was a $390000 special (+19000 for the sunroof) they had in March 2009. The 325i E92 was $543000, no iDrive. The only difference is the 325 came with a 10-speaker system, front and rear parking sensors and folding mirrors and 28 extra horses - but for me, it wasnt worth the HK$130K difference.

willchan711> agree with you... but the E90 325 has Xenons and iDrive/navigation also as a promotion item... in my opinion, the iDrive/navigation changes the look of the interior entirely - I had a E90 330i back in Sydney with iDrive/navigation and the interior had a more upmarket E60 'feel' to it...
abceverton> I have attached 4 images: one of my old 330i from Sydney - the interior with iDrive, my wife's 320i without iDrive and her car with the Style 161 wheels and an interior shot of my old E60 530i M-sport... Hope this helps...

but I would think the M-Steering Wheel makes more difference in terms of interior look than the idrive... |

Well this is the question of how you value those promotion items. To me i focus on fun but not luxary driving. Xenons means almost nothing to me except much more expensive to replace. For iDrive maybe I have not try before so not interested. Front parking sensor no use for me but rear is a must. 17" wheel is good if you don't have high demand for 18"... But I must admit Sun roof add much fun and electric mirror is very useful in HK. good thing about 323 is it is almost come with all must have options for HK. Look at C200K and you will know what I mean.

jtcl> yes, the Msport steering wheel makes the interior look extra sporty and they feel so good to hold onto when driving!!
willchan711> i think it's just me... cos when I drive my 323i, it feels like there is something 'missing', the iDrive system!! That's probably because I have gotten used to having it since 2004... it's like having electric seats - once you get used to them, you cant go back...

Yes, if 3r with iDrive that is very great, however, the iDrive should not be 1st gen. Anyway, I think willchan711 has answer with himself, then go ahead for your 323i lar ^ ^ Last edited by Renus; 01-10-2010 at 11:03 AM.. |

Xenon and Idrive are in the category of "cool to have, but not essential" in my opinion. Personally, I think the Idrive was distracting and ruined the fine line of the dashboard. (Although the latest generation is a major improvement). What is essential is the engine's peformance, it's hp and torque. Remember, what bmw distinguishes from it's luxury competitors is it's performance and handling.

Idrive and xenon are really personal preferences - to me idrive is almost a must, because it is cool to have everything integrated plus i am a gadget freak

I was at the BMW showroom yesterday. This is what the sales told me (all promotions apply ONLY to the cars that are already in stock, i.e. choice of colors etc will be rather limited):
320i -> 40K off the listed price 323i -> 30K off the listed price 325i -> 20K off the listed price Would be nice if someone else can ask similar question to BMW Hong Kong and see if they get the same information. |

Xenons are a must in HK... when the typhoon season is around and you get caught in one of those insane downpours *at night* you just want any and every safety option turned on.
