Do you guys/gals get this smudge/stain on your door pillars?

I've had this smudge/stain on my driver's side door pillar for a while now, and just today I found some on the passenger's side door pillar as well. It looks like a greasy hand smudge at first, but after washing and wiping, it doesn't come off do you have any idea what it is? and ways of getting rid of it? thanks.

I have the same problem - those matt-finish pillars are a pain to keep clean. I can only assume its caused by grease from my fingers when I close the door?

The Meguires should get it off. I and my passangers do not use the pillars to shut the doors, we use the handles. PITA, but that's one of my rules.

That's the handy thing about the M Sport versions, the trim and door surrounds are BlackShadowline which is basically like a smoked glass surface. The fingerprints etc. wipe off very easily.

I started kicking my roommates if I saw them leave prints, and its generally worked. My brother got out of it a week ago after I told him to not use the pillar, so he put 3 greasy finger prints on the paint above the handle, BASTARD!

I've noticed that when drying the car, its got some water spots that are "in" the plastic. I guess I need to use the Meguires trim detailer...

I have the same problem. The matte finish displays the tiniest amount of grease.

i dont know if there's a thread about this but it could be related to his problem.

i have some white spots appearing on my leatherette and some trims. they come off with just wiping them with my hands but they reappear randomly. different areas and different sizes.

is this normal because its new? my car is a month old by the way.

also my back seats has some fingerprints. i think somebody ate an oily food like chips and accidently touched the seats while trying to get out. is there anything that i can use to get that off?

my friend used to wipe her car seats with armor-all wipes and now its just slippery and shiny. i dont want my seats to feel and look like that.

Have you thought about removing the black matte and exposing the painted surface? Hence no more marks!

The black matte looks like a painted metal covering glued on. If I were to actually do it i would probably roll down the window and carefully uncrimp the edges to to scratch the painted surface underneath. I would imagine using Goo Gone to remove the residual and that should be it. I would like to know if anyone has tried this before or on another car. I read about it on the Maxima forum since I was going to do that on my Maxima but never did. They claimed that it was a painted surface just like the rest of the car.

Man I was going to post on this exact subject since those door pillars are pissing me off for the same reason. No amount of cleaning/zaino gets those smudge marks off.

A month old and letting people eat chips in your backseat? Call me anal, but there's no consumption of food or beverages allowed in my e90 - not yet anyway.

And I also adhere to the "close the door using the handle" philosphy and that does the job keeping the pillars clean.

Same here, I feel like I'm cleaning those spots at least a couple times a week. A detailing towel usually gets them out.

It was a good 6 months before I let anyone eat in the car and even then, it's only been my kid and I only let it happen when necessary.
