Alarm install
I was planning on installing an alarm, however, I do not have the prewiring shown on the DIY. Is there an alternate way of doing this?
Thanks. Ben |

i would hold off on installing the alarm for now. I read on this site that people have a hard time getting their alarm programmed by the dealer and that there are still bugs such as no beeping sound when arming the car.

Not sure what you can do, except opt for a completely after market alarm. Unless anyone knows of a retro fit. |

Actually BMW finally released a new alarm program as of January 09 and there haven't been any reported problems with it since then. I had mine programmed, for free I might add , and it beeps and does everything else it is supposed to do.

My CA just informed me last week that apparently there is no alarm for my car (just purchased it last Sunday) but I think it's a load of bull.
So, does anyone know where I can get a good deal on the alarm so I can install it myself? My car is prewired. |

If it's pre wired, then it was built before march 09 and you can use the OEM alarm. Otherwise, it's not pre wired for the OEM and you'll probably have to find a good aftermarket.

I have a 128i vert, Apr 09 Production Date. Dan from United BMW has confirmed that any post-Mar 09 1er is SOL. BMW has discontinued production of the 1er factory alarm.

Wow. The f*ckin' blows. I have a 3/09 build and I was planning on getting the factory alarm. Oh well, $400 BMW won't be seeing from me.
