Don't know why they even try. I did notice more idiots tailgate me (or attempt to). I usually just gently accelerate in sixth away from my drone zone. Sick of people tailgating, especially if the cause of me doing 80km/h in a 100km/h zone is because of the car in front. Well, there is only one lane and there's no where I can go.

This is just indicative of the Sydney driving experience.
So much hate and animosity that just keeps perpetuating. Standards and skill have plumeted while roadways designed for a capacity that was exceeded years ago cause seemingly unavoidable confrontations. If it makes you feel any better, I constantly get shit like this and I have a 125 Now that my wife drives it as I catch a train again, she tells me how much some people will do pretty much any stupid thing to get in front of her only to do the same speed but just 25 metres ahead - didnt happen with her ford hatchback. I guess these incidents are caused by poor self-esteem. |

That sucks Joe. I was driving around town in Sydney about a month ago and I have to admit the drivers are no where near as friendly or courteous down there. I maybe hear someone beep their horn about once a week here but in Sydney maybe 5 times a day. Everyone tries to cut you off and I had anyone and everyone trying to race me. The worst was a Landcruiser that tried to cut me off, I had enough power to get around him though. He gave me the thumbs up afterwards too but seemed genuine about it

Roberts Rd Greenacre is a 6 lane main road that connects from Sylvania to St Ives so to speak.. I was on my way home from picking up the misses from the airport and it connects to the M5 freeway, then straight to Rhodes.. Quote:

I'm not sure that's something Joe worries about.

Yes it was a nightmare. Fortunately I can fend for myself but my parents for example would have a hard time getting around Sydney, in and around the CBD. It's a lot more relaxed up here even though there are still idiots on the road. I usually give way to old people or give them space to merge in, and a lot of people do that here but it's almost the opposite down there. |

There is a lot more traffic in Sydney .. it's a whole different ballgame.
Personally I find driving in Sydney a lot easier than driving in smaller cities. The smaller the place, the worse the driver skillwise and the less likely they are to let you in. However if you are a non Sydney driver you may fail to pick up on the cues given (for when to merge or let someone in etc) and if you hesitate, then you lose your chance.
