well im in the middle of getting my new wheels on. I know i searched before and didnt really find too many pics on getting the car on jack stands so just thought id sharea few pics . I cut blocks of wood and put them into the 4 jack points worked perfect. Picked up my wheels from bobby at bavarian x, if anyone needs wheels + sensors i suggest you go to him he really hooked it up:biggrin:

Thats a great way to do the job. If you do some Google'ing, some site sells the actual "pucks" that you can permanently install on your jack stands and/or jack. Since there is only one BMW (out of 4 cars) in my household, I decided not to buy them...

I usually just put the jack stand/jack right on the puck. Some people say not to do that, but in 30 months of ownership, I've yet to damage one. Not that I have it up in the air that often, thanks extended maintenance...

Hmmm

On second thought/look. There is nothing that would keep the car from falling off of the black stands if it gets bumped from one side or the other.

If, however, you turn your jack-stands 90 degree's, the two edges of the jack stand would keep the car from falling if it were to get bumped. Similar to the red-stands.

Granted you would have to bump the car hard, its just something to think about. Better safe than sorry.

I thought of this as I use a similar pair of jack stands and always put them 90 degrees from the direction you have them in. Right on the lift point without an pucks.
