Both my 128i and 328i indicate they will need jthe OEM front brakes replaced at around 50,000 miles and rears at about 65,000. Lots of highway use helps, as does not riding the brakes in traffic. Tom |

Is it the front or rear pads that are worn out? The guys on the German 1er forum say the rears wear out first - for guys to like to spin their rear tires(DTC) a lot. I find that hard to believe though.

So the brake counters in the dash are actual wear sensors and not just mileage counters? when I checked my counters at 52,000 it said 16,000 more for the fronts and 20,000 more miles for the rears.

BTW < 3mm is BMW's minimum specification that would trigger the light and require pad replacement.. they do it at 3mm so that people dont panic and are told that there is still time and make an appt. as opposed to making a rush on the service dept.

hmm... just checked my counters at lunch.
3400 miles until fronts and 23,000 until rears. that can't seem right. that would put me at almost 83,000 miles on the rears. and it said 23,000 miles left on the rears 10,000 miles ago.
