Was that you I hooned over the Roseville bridge a few months back? The other 135 turned right towards Forestville.

That's true, but they refused flatly to give me a car without full options. Even then, they were saying 103k, no lower. So i walked!

Then got the 125i with M Pack, 18's and the Sunroof at Col Crawford for 68k.

That's exactly what i thought. They had an Alpine White Convertible (didn't want a convert), the black wheels, loaded with the options i didn't want. He said "otherwise you'll be waiting until January to get what you want".

Meh, seeing as though i'm the customer i walked on them. I got a fucking good deal with Col Crawford.

As long as are happy with your purchase is the main thing..After all, you are the customer and they are there to supply you with what you want, not what they want to sell you..

I have seen the white vert there with the black wheels, which IMO looks hot, but its what you want that counts...

I'm much happier with 68k for a car that's what i wanted (with the exact options i wanted an no more/no less), rather than 103k for a car i didn't want and paying 3 times as much insurance for!

But you're right, i'm ecstatic with the 125i

Went in today to finish off paperwork. New guy handling my finance stuff. CC, i think, have tried to jimmy as much cash out of me as possible. Despite the car being a novated lease, they're trying to trick me into putting down a 20% deposit, on top of the 2k holding deposit i've already put on the car! My sales guy said not to worry about it, and the car will be ready on Wednesday. It's amazing - despite it being a novated lease, they've asked for a finance deposit, without the third party (my employer) knowing at all.

I flatly refused to give the deposit, and told them to put everything through on Monday. I nearly ended up hanging up on the Finance Manager when i was speaking to him later in the day on the phone.

Not a good way to treat a new customer! Anyway, the car will be ready Wednesday, but Saturday will be delivery date as i work 8.30am-5.30pm....

Is a BMW salesman any better than a Ford/Holden/Hyuandai etc salesman?? In this economy they are all struggling to move stock.

True - but it's not moving stock - the stock is sold. Everything's signed off, but now telling me to lay down a 20% deposit behind the back of my employer is just so wrong.

Think they're trying to take advantage of my 'youthfulness' to get more cash out of me which they won't get.

that is pretty rough - having had 3 novated leases previously I had never been asked for any deposit for any of them.

Told our Financial Controller this morning and he's said "Don't put another cent down on the car. Nothing. Leave it to us."

I think this Business Manager tried to bluff me into laying nearly $14'000 into a purchase deposit and I didn't fall for it.. Better get a good bloody present in the car on Saturday!

They came back yesterday, saying BMW Finance wanted just over $4300 in advance payments for the first few months of the lease.

I told them definitely not, as this completely goes outside the point of a novated lease - payments are made pre-tax, and they're asking me to make them post-tax, and without the consent of the third party, which is my employer.

Not only that, but the dealer submitted the application without any of the information i provided to them, and they can't locate that info (a letter of appointment and a previous employment contract). A couple of breaches of the Privacy Act there as well.

But, the one thing that has pissed me off. I told the Business Manager that if this was the way they treat customers, it's quite possible i won't be a customer for much longer and he laughed - i hung up on him.

^ from what you posted, this dealer sounds terrible... i can't believe he laughed at you when you expressed your concerns about the service provided.
best thing to do is get your car and be done with them.

Have you considered raising the matter with BMW Australia? I'm sure they'd be interested to know.
