Meisterschaft exhaust installed!
I've donated my car to GTHaus for a couple weeks for the purposes of mocking up a couple new exhausts which will be due out in the near future. I won't give out too many details but these new exhausts will be an ideal fit for our cars. BMW made this car for the true enthusiast who wants to DD & track the car and these new systems will fit both requirements nicely.
I further confirmed the mid pipe is the same mid pipe as found on the 135i. Also, after doing a scientific exam of the rear muffler (tapping it with a screwdriver) it appears by sound alone that the back muffler is pretty hollow inside hence the already great sound it produces. Stay tuned for more updates. Going under the knife. Finished product. Last edited by TunedM2C; 08-28-2011 at 11:01 PM.. |

Small update: While the car is sitting and waiting for the R&D exhaust work to be completed, I thought I'd get it tinted with 35% film. I think the tint is a great compliment to the color and shape of this car. I'm still on the fence about powdercoating the wheels high gloss black though.
The exhaust work should be completed in another two weeks and I can't wait to open this car up with their full catback system. I'm going with non-resonator midpipes and a lightweight rear section which of course will be available for anyone to purchase. The decals are for a photoshoot but I hear they add 5hp. The X6M in the background has a valve controlled exhaust and when it bypasses the muffler, man, is it incredibly loud yet incredibly fun at the same time! R&D within 2 weeks?! I'm sorry but that is hardly enough time. Quality R&D can't be completed in that time frame and requires extensive testing methods to provide optimal results.

Yeah well I found out yesterday it would be at least another three weeks so until I get it back, I guess we won't know how long it took to R&D the rear section.

After 6+ long weeks I now have my car back and I have to say, this is an incredible exhaust! I'm still in break-in period so I can't open it up that much but it feels like it breathes better than before. Sound? The sound is down right brutal (in a good way). It reminds me of their GTR exhaust which has been their best seller lately.
On my way home from their shop I received two thumbs up from other modified car owners. One guy was swerving in and out of traffic behind me just to get on my tail and follow me for a bit. I ended up giving them a nice sound bite when taking off and they couldn't wipe the grin off their mug. I currently have section 1 and 2 on the car with no plans of changing the down pipes. Exact weight savings is forthcoming. The tips are staggered as well which is a nice touch. EDIT: THE REAR SECTION WEIGHS 16LBS AND THE TITANIUM OPTION WEIGHS 9LBS ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER. Quick Iphone pic for now: Last edited by TunedM2C; 08-10-2011 at 11:16 AM.. |

Nice, looks well done. Is it noticeably louder than stock? Do they offer a dp?
I was looking at the prices and the ti system is actually more expensive than the akrapovic system. $2998 exhaust + $2798 midpipes = $5796. It should be noted that the cf tips are only $398 compared to the $1,373 diamond encrusted cf akrapovic tips, though. |
