Upgraded turbos for the 1M?

Are there any turbo kits available for the 1M, are those N54 kits suitables for the 1M?

I found a dyno with 443.49rwhp but it was 99 degF on the dyno and he was on 100oct. Not bad at all.

Call up Turbonetics direct, im sure they can sort anyone out. And if your willing to hand over your car, im sure you'll get a free kit out of it for the price of their R&D usage.

Does anybody know if the turbos in the 1M are the same as those in the 135i?

Wow really, common guys use search before posting, it helps a lot.

The N54B30 is unchanged between the 135 and the 1M, they both use the same Mitsubishi TD03 turbos.

Don't buy ASR. They are a highly shady company. Look at the big thread on N54tuning.
RB and RD turbos are the best options right now. You'll be running 500WHP all day.

I really have no idea how the twin scroll single turbos work so don't chew me out too much, ... buuuut would it be possible to twin turbo a 1M by using two of those

no you dont. Two Twinscroll turbos would effictively be a quad turbo.

and 6 does not go into 4

^^^In American english a bi-turbo would be sequential instead of parallel or "twin" turbos.....kinda like Siamese twins versus actual separate identical twins (in that Siamese twins share some "piping"...LOL)

A biturbo arraignment has two different sized turbos (usually a small one for low engine speed and a large one for the upper range) that share the same exhaust piping so they are known as sequential, because the large one is downstream of the small one (several BMW diesels are bi turbos)

This is similar to the idea of a twin scroll turbo like on the N55, but bot quite as both the small and large turbo impellers share the same housing in a twinscroll. Think of a twinscroll as a tightly packaged Bi Turbo

A twin turbo has two identical turbos that get fed off of two different headers. Twin turbos on a 6 are two banks of 3 cylinders, twins on an 8 pot are two banks of 4 cylinders, etc...

And you can't simply swap turbos on the N54. The turbo housings are cast into the header. So you Either need a custom header made or the second, easier option, which is to put a more efficient turbo possible into the stock housing (this is what ASR and RB do)

But again do not give money to ASR! They are thieves!
