It would be awesome to see this on the 1 Series a few years down the future. Anyone can guess how long before this actually goes into production?

It won't be long...laser diodes and light emitting diodes have progressed steadily over the years in terms of technological advances. A laser diode is basically an LED producing laser light at about 100mA, an LED at about 10 mA. Some type of laser module will be used to avoid the destruction of the diode as it reaches threshold current. Fun stuff

We will still have to read through 50k pages of arguments over whether the traditional land based cars have more “tunable” lasers than the newer, and more eco-friendly, hover series. BTW…the hover option will be a 3500 add on and only standard on cars shipped to Bora Bora.
