BMW Performance Springs on 1M

I have the BMW Performance Suspension on my 135i right now. Do you think if I used the yellow springs that come with the kit on the 1M, it will lower the ride height slightly? The stock wheel gap in the front looks goofy to me.

Thanks peeps.

I would say they probably wont even fit. One way to reliably change the 1M suspension would be to find a company that has developed a coil over kit for it. I believe the parts are mainly M3, so it is possible that an existing M3 suspension would work. However, the Performance springs for a 1 series should use different spring perches, and the 1M shocks won't be valved to respond correctly to the BMW Performance springs.

What he said. Very unlikely that they'll fit.

Even if they did fit, they are not designed with the proper spring rates for the 1M so you would probably be hurting the handling.

Thanks guys for the responses...

I didnt know if the 3er and 1er shared the same suspension bits? Even if they did, the spring rates might not be optimal like you said.

Looks like the performance suspension will be up for sale soon then.

It's ok. I'm trading mine in with the performance suspension because 1) I don't feel like paying the dealer 8-9 hours of labor for removal, and 2) it would be a PITA to install/remove oneself. My dealer has already agreed to pay me a decent amount for the suspension on trade-in if it stays on the car.

Based on what I've seen/read/heard, the 1M suspension is leaps beyond the performance suspension for the 135i. Also, if it helps at all, I have seen multiple 1M's in person already, in all 3 colors, and the fender gaps are not as obvious as they look in pictures. In my opinion, a lot of people haven't been able to photograph the 1M car well.
