FS: 2004 WRX Accessport / Want: 135i AP
Hey, I'm sort of guessing that I won't have any takers for this here, but I've got a 2004 WRX AP 2.0...it's still running just fine and I've got the original box and such. Anyway, I recently purchased a 2009 135i and am really wanting to get it AP'd. I figured I'd take a long shot and see if anyone here has any interest in an accessport 2.0 for an '04 WRX. I'm pretty flexible, just considering my options in terms of dumping my old AP so I can pick up a 135i AP. Ideally...hoping for some sort of convenient trade + cash, but am open to considering other suggestions/offers. |

Called Cobb customer service. Whoever took the call acted like I was a fool for even wasting his time asking the question.
I remember when I started buying Cobb parts for my Subie in '06--back then, Cobb was fantastic to deal with. Not so much anymore. I'm not bothered by having to re-spend a hard-earned $800ish on the same toy I already own. (Well, I am a little bothered; but I can accept it; I do think it's a poor choice on Cobb's part, but that's a matter of business strategy). They just tend to be brusque and discourteous when you ask a seemingly fair question. |

Cobb has great customer service usually, they encourage you to sell it. I emailed them with the same question when I moved from my GR STi to the 1.
It's in no way the same toy - you aren't buying a plastic tuner device for $800, you're buying intellectual property. I'm a subie guy, hit up NASIOC and it'l move within a day or so for the right price. GL w/sale.

Fair enough on the intellectual property.
As for COBB's customer service, I would strongly disagree. Of all the aftermarket parts I've ever purchased (which is only a moderate number), I'd give COBB a solid dead-last. I'll recall the time I bought an exhaust directly from COBB's website. Website said the exhaust came with new urethane exhaust mount bushings. Exhaust came. No bushings. I called customer service...their response: "Oh, yeah, that was part of an old package. Those aren't included anymore. We just haven't updated our website." Seriously, that's what I was told. We advertised one thing and sold you another and "we forgot to update the website" was the only explanation. I've got at least 4 or 5 more of examples of stuff like that which all left a bad taste in my mouth. That being said...Accessport is still in a class of it's own which means I need to STFU and start saving for a new AP (and hope I don't have to call them for anything). |

Sell it on NASIOC. They have a trade in deal but its only $150 I think, and an AP 2.0 is worth much more on the used market.

I wouldve pushed that. If its advertised as such they have to sell it as such. Otherwise theyre selling you something that quite clearly isnt what you were told you were buying.
