Dealers are in the biz to part-swap!!!

The dealers are not really going to TRULY fix what's wrong with your car, just swap parts till the problem goes away... This is why we have a HPFP issues and sooo mnay other problems... I grew up in a world that actually diagnosed issues and fixed IT!!!!! Todays world is crap... And we wonder why things dont get fixed after the 5th or 6th or 8th time...These techs and dealers should be ashamed of themselves!!!!

A real Debbie downer! Not to mention extremely naive if you think anyone at a dealer makes any of the parts that a car is built with. Especially a HPFP. Wow vent your frustration somewhere else!

Don't you work for BMW NA?

I thought I remember you saying something about that in the past? Hot weather testing in death valley? Still working for them??? Why are you so down on BMW? It might be time for you to sample some other marke. I don't think things will be any "greener" on the other side of the street.

Anyways... for the past 20 years no dealer tech really gets paid to "fix" cars the old ways, ie diagnosing and repairing/overhauling that part. Todays techs ARE parts replacers. They replace what is most likely to be the culpurit/problem. Hopefully they fix it in the first or second attempt. They could care less what was the cause. And they don't get paid enough to figure it out.

Just look at engine or tranmision repairs... there are no unit overhaul techs around aymore. Heck, BME doesn't even sell the internal parts! Yours is broken... you get a frech one!

Did he just figure this one out? Parts are much cheaper then labor. Some degree of labor is used to figure out what subsystem is acting up (like reading a code).

How long have you been an engineer?

BMW debits the failed part manufacturer for the labor, so that really doesn't matter as much as what's really wrong with the car. They just don't want to see the same issue again. The N54 just took too long for them to get their butts in gear.
