Got the call today from BMW Aust with the usual welcome BS and confirmation of contact details bla bla bla...

THEN was told, I will be getting a call from BMW Aust in the next 3 months to be given a voucher for the BMW M Dynamic Driver Training..

I'd definitely recommend it, especially if there are some skid pan sessions as well as the track. The skid pan is invaluable in teaching you the limits of your car, how far you can push it and what to do when you lose it.

I actually think that I prefer skid pan days to track days at the moment.

the regular training is around $750 (which includes driving the M3) but the M dynamic one is up around $2k...

lol..you can negotiate with her..

And she gets plenty of pampering with day spa's etc as it is, I can assure you.

With my M3, I got 1 pass free and the second one at ~50% off. Though the second pass may have been discounted as it was another benefit of the EPP, can't recall.

Hi Joe,

Didn't get a letter but when I contacted BMW Aus' they had me in their system as a qualifier. They said that they normally leave it for 6 months or so before they send out the letter. You do get your choice of track. Mine's Phillip Island which is booked out for this year so I will be early next year. By that time I should have some confidence back after my recent track adventure. I wonder if they let you drive with traction fully off? I doubt it.

on an MDM driver training course you get M mode for the track and traction fully off for the skidpan!

edit: just saw NPVpostive's post about the course being the BMW Intensive one and not MDM... i've done the BMW Intensive one, albeit shortened version and it was fun the first time but I wouldn't do it again... unless it was free then sure why not!

That makes sense. I wouldn't be letting cars out on the track with traction off to people like me.

Me + traction off + racetrack = the day ending in tears.

Congratulations mate on the new ride....... Ive seen the same car in person at the Paramatta dealership as the sales person gave me a private tour through there new car storage area... BIG FAT FLARED out guards FAT wide wheels... VERY VERY nice!!!

i was told from head orifice that i didn't qualify, but i am still hoping i will get something in the mail, would be good to do a track day together, not racing, just thrashing the ass out of the things, its alot of fun, especially in a group of equally fast cars

I felt the benefits of the BMW driver training (intensive course) were:
(a) Comparing each class eg E82 125i, E90 323i, E90 M3
(b) Sharing with a fellow enthusiast ie driver a passenger per vehicle
(c) Venue eg beautiful Phillip Island rather than any common circuit

It allowed me to explore the limits in a controlled environment before subjecting my own vehicles to extreme treatment, and was personally more satisfying than other track days or driver training events.

I can't see BMW head office offering to some and not others.. It would have to be all or none.

Hopefully we will get the voucher in the same time frame and organise Phillip Island as a group for the Sydney 1M guys..
