Not RFT's...both 135's had good tyres...mine are the PSS, while 1M has PS2's

Agree about loss of throttle control with a tune, you're just not sure where the power will kick in. My 335 was tuned and the extra power was great but it made a bit of a lottery out of cornering on the throttle. If I was smooth with the throttle the power would inevitably arrive too late and if was agressive it would arrive....at some point.....but spin up the inside wheel and squirm all over the place making for an untidy episode. Admitedly it didn't help at all that it was an auto, however in stock form, i.e. without the tune, it was far more responsive.

Drag racing is different. I'm not a drag racer but I imagine that it doesn't matter about a sudden power surge at some point in the rev range as long as you have traction and stability with it.

I'm not going to lie, my 135i feels slow on stock map (190-195kw) and Map 1 (235kw). Map 2 (249kw) feels like the perfect 'minimum' level for me. The 1M dynos at 220kw... When you line the 2 cars up side by side then you'll see what it's all about... seeing is believing

On the track, it's another story. I'm going out to QR and will most likely use Map 2 or my Meth maps but at Lakeside I will probably tone it down to Map 1 power because that track is all about the handling and corners.

IMHO, all a 1M needs is some kind of tune - especially since it's so easy, otherwise it's a great out of the box. Do it, it's the best few hundred bucks you will ever spend.

As I stated in my post above, the extra power is not necessary on all tracks but it's nice to have that power every other day you're not tracking your car, which I assume is at least 355+ days a year. I suggest you take some time to research the piggyback options like JB4/Procede as they allow you toggle through different maps by pressing a couple buttons on your steering wheel. If the extra power is too much you can switch back to stock within seconds on the fly. I can even change my meth additive on the fly

they do but they wore out 2 years ago, ha ha, they are pretty good on the track i have to say, but no where near as god as ad08's or RE11's

i cannot make wakefield or any more track days this year so sorry can't make it in december, this should be the busiest time of year for me and yet i am on the forums wanking on about cars when i should be flat out, thanks anyway, i am really keen for next year however, feb or march, i'd love to see someone turn up with a 1m and ess tune

Map 5 is ratshit, don't bother with it. Plus it takes time to adapt and it resets each time you change maps. It's very conservatively tuned.

What mods does your old man have? If he's 100% stock leave it on Map 1. If he's got any bolt-ons go for Map 2.

Map 1 on a stock N54 would be very similar to power to the 1M though as they make similar boost. My Map 1 is more powerful due my supporting mods though.

pretty sure Dinan's tune is pretty average compared with the others and requires additionaly hardware, as it's essentially the stage 2 135i tune which if I'm correct they say requires additional boltons.

my old mans reliving his youth thats what worries me, 200 in the wet is fine but with those semi slick tyres, faaark, i'll tell him to use map 1 next time.
