Recommend a good set of wipers

When my car was in for the PPK upgrade, they also did the 15k service, which included new wipers. My old wipers were great, super quiet, smooth, they worked. These new wipers they gave me are the exact opposite. They are noisy, they squeak every time they change direction and vibrate, or chatter a lot of the time when going back and forth. Not to mention, there is a nice perma-line right in front of my face on my windshield that wasn't there before I used them. Its super annoying because it obstructs my view.

So, enough of my rant, anyone know of a great set of wipers that are quiet yet do the simple job of clearing my windshield? What are your personal preferences with wipers?

I just got a new set from the dealer. Perfect, no problems.

Sylon - I would go back to the dealer and ask for a new set(parts warranty). I replaced my wiper last year, and I really like the BMW ones. I even made a DIY. I suspect you either got an old wiper set or the tech who worked on your car put the new wiper blades on his ride! Don't laugh... it happens.

The BMW wiper blade set is: BMW part #61610420549
The wipers are 500mm long (20") blades. I think

I paid like 40 euro for them. Any Bosch wiper blade set should work as well. But you should be able to get another (free) set for your local dealer.

Fyi... here is my DIY...

DIY changing your BMW wiper blades…

Just got mine changed last week and it's perfect, I'd go back and ask them to change it again.

Sounds like your problem isn't the wiper blades but rather, a film or something on the windshield. The tell-tale sign? The "permanent" line you now have where the passenger's side wiper blade changes directions in the middle of the windshield. That line is a build-up of either whatever was used to clean the windshield, road grime and oils, or a combination of both.

TRICO NeoForm
20" Blade - Driver & Passenger Side Part #: 16-2013

Great wiper. Quiet. Not a Rip-Off price. Put the appropriate ones on my MB E 550 too. Available at Amazon.com

When I got my car back after the 15k service I felt the exact same about the new wipers. Going in for PPK friday well see if the can maybe do something about it.

Try this....

Cut a potato in half and rub it across the windscreen (starch), then wipe over the top with scrunched up newspaper. That should remove the film that's causing the friction with the blade.

There might be a solvent grab on the glass that has been applied when they cleaned your car.

Wiper blades can also be cleaned. I just clean mine once in a while and put armor-all on them, it really helps.

Armor all, really?
I would think that would leave a residue on the glass?
Maybe the residue is beneficial?

I stopped using armor all years ago after the first time I used it.
It left the interior oily and shiny. I hate it on tires as it spins off and gets on the lower body panels.

I clean my wiper blades with this stuff once a month. I have no idea how much it helps, but it doesn't cost much and only takes two minutes.

Rain-X (or a similar treatment) wouldn't cause them to have these problems, would they? I mean, my windows were treated a couple months before these new wipers were put on, and my old wipers were fine.

It was raining during my drive home from work just now, and the wiper chatter was so bad I had to turn the wipers off. Thank god for the window treatment as it still allowed me to see. I'm gonna call the dealership on Monday, this is unacceptable.
