The 1M is still a fairly new car, and as always we want to do our best to ensure our clients are well informed prior to making any purchasing decisions. We took this photo of an OE BMW 1M exhaust system to showcase each component of the exhaust system and give 1M fans an idea of exactly what they are changing or replacing when purchasing a performance exhaust system.

Any vendors or 1M owners, feel free to post photos of your performance exhausts for comparison!

Nate, very helpful diagram! I was searching last weekend for an image like this and could not find anything. I was under the car a few days ago trying to figure out where the hangers and connectors were, and this makes it very clear.

So the bypass valve allows two pipes to bypass he muffler completely? This means without the wireless kit you are only really exhausting through 2 pipes? Is that correct?

Without the wireless kit the exhaust valves on the two outer pipes are shut but someone said with some work they can be removed. I used to have the capristo exhaust on my RS 4 and it open/closed valves with a remote. it is a nice feature to have especially if you live/work in noise sensitive areas.
