Looking to lease 128i

I'm looking to buy a 128i coupe. Basically, I want a stripper with only xenon lights. MSRP is $32,825. For a 36 month lease, with $1800 down, they are asking for $380 per month. This is with tax and everything included. How good of a deal is this?

I'm also comparing this to a Mazda3. They aren't comparable, but the Mazda is also a fun car and gets an amazing 40 MPG. When I test drove the manual transmission on the Mazda, the short throw and affirmative notchiness was amazing; couple that with weighing only 2800 lbs. means that the Mazda can be a great autocross/DE car. I haven't driven a manual E82 as no BMW dealer will stock one! How good of a transmission does the E82 have?

This will be my first manual transmission car. I do plan on doing autocross with it but don't plan on being competitive. I will also do another Tire Rack Street Survival with whatever car I choose. I really just want a driver oriented car.

you could add the m pkg with prob only 50 additional every month.

plus, for the same money per month, you may find a nice 2011 z4 for fun.

this 3 looks good to me. definitely better than the basic 128 you are looking at.

I don't need the M package as it offers no benefits for me. A Z4 is even less practical than a 128i for me.

The car and options are set in stone. This is the kind of car I want; I'm not interested in options. I'm just wondering if the deal I got was good; $1800 down and $380/month for 36 months.

I'm also wondering what others rate the manual transmission? Compared to other vehicles, is it better, worse or the same?

Edit: Didn't see your last post. I talked the to the salesman and he said that BMWUSA can no longer build me a manual transmission E90. Also, there are no manual transmission E90's already in the port. Any E90 is out of question as they are prepping for the new F chassis to come in.

three years later, much improved bmw will be available. for the money you would potentially pay and for the species, the 3 above is better (less lease period, sedan). if you are stick to stick like i do, then never mind. talking about stick, no worry for your three years lease period. except for porsche, bmw's tran is good enough in the market.

mine comes bone stock except for xenon and m pkg. i like xenon as i thought i would keep this car for a long period (changed mind now); however, if i were leasing it, i can live with no-xenon.

This will be 100% a lease and there is no way we were buying the car after; residual is at 64% for this car!

The current X5 I drive has halogens and I am working on a bi-xenon projector retrofit because the output is so bad. My mother's X6 has xenons and even though they aren't that great, they are miles better than the X5. My father's E46, which the E82 will be replacing, has halogens and while they are better than the X5's lights, they are still not good enough.

I need a manual transmission. That is why a E90 is out of the question. I also don't care for the M package besides the sport suspension, but I felt that the stock suspension was stiff enough since I am coming from a E53 X5 and occasionally drive a E46. Sounds good that the E82's transmission is decent.

Now, is $380 a month a decent price?

i still believe the current 3 lease is best of best leasing talking about DD.

since you are stick to stick, then no brainer here.

1. residual is ok since there is no promotion of 128 leasing at the moment. you can negotiate lower down payment, say 1000.
2. i am not clear of the current policy, but you may qualify for the loyalty program which gives you 1000 allowance.

good luck.

Ok, we will try and go to another dealer and see if they offer a better lease deal.

I just searched up and the loyalty program only applies to people who have gone through BMWFS recently. We've never used them so we're SOL there.

However, BMWCCA does have a $500 rebate for 1 series models so we will be saving a little there.

The hardest part now is waiting to go to the dealership on Monday and waiting for the car to be made/delivered.

loyalty program, simple, no requirement of BMWFS. provide the vin, that's it.

well for the 128i you are going to need the sport package if you want to be competitive. If not you are going to have to shell out $$ for springs and good tires.

Also, which mazda are you talking about. The mazda3speed or the normal mazda?

I said not competitive. I'm only looking for the experience of driving a car on its limits. I don't want to deal with the sport seats that I hate on the X6, the stiffer suspension and the staggered wheels.

I am comparing the 128i to a regular Mazda3. I feel that there is too much power in the Mazdaspeed3 for a FWD car.

Well, we finally got a better deal on the 128i. Roughly $1700 down and $379 per month. Both dealers are saying that this is the rock bottom price they will offer. Plus, I still need to wait 6-8 weeks for it.

Otherwise, I would go to the Subaru dealer and take an Impreza off the lot for much less. I hate decisions...

sorry to all 1er here, but my opinion again, forget about the stick (i am a stick fan and user) and go for the GIVE AWAY 3 deal. Fun, functional, and classic. Good luck anyway.
