264 Wheels 255 Rear & 225 Front.
Hello - I am in the process of looking to change the tires on our 135i. I like the 264 wheel style. Can I put 255/35 R18 on the rear and 225/40 R18 on the front without any rubbing? I am talking no rubbing with full load going through mountain roads at aggressive speeds. Not really looking for any conditions. Want to make the stance contain more width with no issues. I have read a majority of the thread with no conclusive answer. A link will be appreciated if you have a link.

I am running this set-up with MPSS, and I do not have any rubbing issues. I did want test for rubbing when I first had them on. I drove over a raised hill that was in place for RR tracks. The suspension unloaded cresting the hill, then compressed quite a bit on hte backside of the hill. No rubbing what so ever.
I also took it out on a canyon road, and had no issues in any of the corners. I cant say I was aggressive on the road, due to being a public roadway. My car is set up totally stock with the 264 rims running 225/255.

I have the 225/255 set up on the 264 wheel with Pilot super sports. No rubbing and a very nice tire. I got a continental flat repair kit (tire pump with the bottle of goop attached) from tire rack that I keep in me trunk. It fits in the netting on the side of my trunk.

ive been going crazy trying to find someone that has lowered their car with the stock m-sport wheels and put on 255's in the rear....
im lowered and the eibach springs... and looking to put new rear tires on and want to run 255's in the rear but dont want to buy and then end up rubbing... |

I have the same 225/255 Michelin pilot super sports. Great tires. Zero rubbing under any condition. On stock sport suspension w/ 264s.

I have eaten through my rear tires after 6k miles (the potenza RE050A RFTs) and was also considering the MPSS. Great to learn that they will fit in slightly larger than stock configuration.
I have 3 questions though: 1. When you guys say "stock suspension" are you referring to the "standart suspension" or the 'm-sport package suspension" which lowers the car by 15mm over the standart suspension? Will the tires rub on an m-sport pkg car? 2. How much does the 255/35R18 MPSS tire stick out over the stock 264 wheels? Any upclose pictures? 3. Since my fronts still have plenty of thread left, I can replace the rears and another 6 months from now the fronts. Would I be crazy to go driving around spiritedly on twisty roads with the 255 MPSS rear and the original potenzas up front? I assume I would notice a significant increase in understeer since the MPSS are gripier and larger than stock on rear, while the originals remain up front. Thanks!! |

All 135i come with the sport suspension - whether no sport package, the sport package or the M sport package - its all the same suspension. BMW makes a performance suspension which is special order and not part of any package. That lowers the car about 10mm. I have the performance suspension on my 2011 135i with 225/255 bridgstone RE-11s on the sport (non M) package 18 inch wheels. No rubbing on my set up
