Thoughts on tail lights?

Whatcha think?

Most of a can on them, haven't 1500/2000 grit (cant find anywhere yet) so tiny spots still no clearcoat+ buffer, which should deepen the colour and make it glossy rather than matte

It sorta goes really good looking (looks almost identical to blackline) at 3 light coats.. Then horrible til 6/7 when it gets properly black

Pretty red in the sunlight.. Tail lights and brakes VERY bright still so no issues with the popo . Would like it a bit darker, but i did it last night and ran out of hours lol.

On as is right now

Off at current darkness

3 coats (super light) for reference

Ed: direct sunlight makes it seem way lighter and still clearly red/seethru.. Might go another 2 heavyish coats, first 3 were super light (didn't know how to do it right) then the next 3 were progressively heavier

It's going to be clearcoated and glossy soon, the matte rough look isn't the best really lol

If it looked terrible, i'd have bought the blackline lights anyway

That might be why, it looks weird in matte.

Still should follow the adr's.. Viewable brake/tail light distance per lighting conditions.. The lights are completely visible 100% in daylight and darkness, i was actually surprised that there's no difference from stock

At the moment yeah it looks pretty bogan *up close*, from a distance it just looks dark and not out of place.. At night it's just pitch black.. Up close since i havent hit it with the wet n dry it's a bit spotty and not smooth still. Will fix lol

They're darker than that already.. Brbgoogle

How it's pretty much blended with the paint in reflectivity and the only indication they're there is the outline and lights when theyre on

But yeah similar in smooth/shininess, that level of darkness is in between looking good levels to me though lol

ED: when imgur comes back up, i'll throw on a pic of the lights on

if i can't get it fully smooth, i'll look in to getting it professionally done, as i won't be happy with it being spotty/rough.. the sanding/clear/buff SHOULD in theory get it right though, will see

i thought you'd all like to know the best way to remove VHT niteshades.... spray more on to it! lesson learnt, do it all in one go... accidentally oversprayed (after watching a guy on a video do it, when it was still wet so it just stuck -_-), wiped, then it just went back to fully clear lol.. just like paint stripper, maybe even better haa

i'll grab another can or 2 tomorrow on the way to work and re-do it all at once tomorrow night, just a little more elbow grease to get them fully clean now though lol
