Some say actions speak louder than words.

Setup: Seldom do I park my 135i on the street after the neighbor across the street bumped into my front bumper with her Sequioa trailer hitch mount (she willingly paid for the repair, no problem). Her two college-age sons are home for the summer and are always coming and going in their Lexus IS250 and many of their friends come over for visits.

Action: Last weekend I had to park on the street since I was cleaning out the garage, and I kept a close watch on the street as I worked in the garage. I saw her sons arrive and park on the street followed by two more friends in a Civic who also parked on the opposite side of the street. Instead of going directly up the sidewalk and in their front door, all four crossed the street and encircled my 1er to check it out for a couple of minutes.

Conclusion: Don't know exactly what they said, but their actions told me that they were curious, impressed, interested, and maybe just a bit jealous. I got a good laugh out of it (and a clean garage).

Dont even have my car yet (ordered it about a week ago a 2013 135i) and already getting the comments
"O you only got the 1 series"
"thats the poor mans BMW"
"its just a 1 a 328 has more options and is faster"
First of all I could afford a 3 seires if thats what I wanted but it isent and Im not married an no kids and dont plan on being a taxi service so why do I need a 3.
Second "poor mand BMW" well ya I guess you could say that sense MOST other BMWs cost more than a 1er but last time I checked I was pretty sure the base MSRP of a plain 135i was more than a plain 328 (plain as in no packages like premium sport etc)
And Finally when i got the my 328 is faster comment form a co worker I just said
"my parents own a 2010 328 e93 vert. Very nice car and very expensive certainly more than my 135( as it is loaded and the vert is 7k more than the standard coupe). Ive driven it a couple times and its very impressive."
Hes like ya well why didnt you get that the xtra money would have been worth it. I jus said "well we get what we pay for dont we" winked an walked away

Ok so heres my story:

Driving around in the middle o the night when i come to a police roadblock( regular) where i live ( lebanon ).. So the police man says please park pn the side for inspection.. So i park on the side, ad after a few seconds i see another police man coming towards me eyeballing my car.. He had a frown on his face!

Police man: please get out of the car

Me: ok

Police man: License and registration
Policeman: open the hood please.

Me: is there somthing wrong?? Did my car commit a crime??

Policeman: MAN!!! I have an e36 m3!! And i draged with one of these cars on the highway! IT Smoked tr fuck out of me! What the hell is it?

Me: well, its a 135i

Policeman: so its a 3 series turbo?

Me: no, its a 135i , 1 series, twin turbo..

Policeman: how many hp's?
Me: 480bhp

Policeman: no way noo wayy! ( i thought he was goin to load his weapon and shoot me)

Me: yeah got an ecu tune

Policeman: ec what?

Me: computer tune lol

Policeman: that is one hell of a powerful car...

So after a short while, te policeman understands what the hell iam talkn abt and tells me to go and do an agressive launch before i leave... I build up revs( about 5 policeman at the roadblock) dip the clutch and leave a nice trail behind me all where like YEAHH babyYY!!!

Coworker of mine, whom I am very good friends with, was dubious of my enthusiasm towards my car. He drove a Golf for abit, tuned, and he was like "I'd be very surprised if it drive faster than mine did." (he drives a Tacoma now)

I educated him, its a Twin Turbo! Its got a tune! Mods! Hes like yea w.e.

So anyways, we had to deliver a vehicle to a customer's house, and he rode back. I pulled over, and let him drive.

"Jesus Fucking Christ, what do you have in this thing?"


The rest of the week was all smiles for me.

I always have people asking me what it is (car is also debaged so kind of heightens the confusion). I've had people ask me if it's a 1M, etc. People just don't know the car at all or what it is even capable of...
