"Launch Mode"

Hey Guys,
Just wondering if any of you knew how to engage launch mode on the 135i. My boyfriend has an M3 and his launch mode is activated by hitting the stick shifter forward twice, when this is done a checkered flag shows on the dash and you are ready to go. Do we have something like this on our 135's??

1. Press the DTC button on the dash
2. Put the car in park
3. Get out, walk to the front of the car, do two jumping jacks
4. Get back in the car through the sunroof (very important)
5. Floor it, then pop it in drive

Someone chime in if this is wrong, I dont have a DCT so I am only going off of other posts.

First step is your car has to be properly warmed up, I think 6 miles or so driven.
Then long press the DTC and turn it completely off
Then turn on manual mode
Hold the brake down while pressing the gas pedal, this should raise your RPMs and display a launch control icon on your dash
Then let go of the brake and put the hammer down, make loud noises and go fast

Put the trans in manual, click it into 2nd gear and then hold the brake and give it enough gas to get the RPMs to about 2500 and then release the brake.

Also, the ECU won't engage the launch control mode until you've passed the break-in period. ~1200 miles.

Press DTC once, once only it will show DTC on the dash screen
Press SPORT button, green light is now on
Pull lever towards you, you are now in S1.
Pull paddle on steering wheel back, you now on M1
Press brake with left foot
Depress accelerator to floor, depressing the kick down switch all the way
Flag will now appear on dash
Revs will be at 3400rpm Max
Take foot off brake when ready to take off
Do not let go of accel above point where the kick down switch is disengaged
All of this is in the owner's manual. I copy/pasted from another forum because I'm at work, and lazy.

Thank you very much! I haven't had a chance to read the whole owners manual yet and I wasn't sure that it would be in there. Thanks again Mr. Kleen!

Hmm, not sure I've seen it posted correctly.

-Warm up car
-Disable DTC by pressing button ONCE
-Left foot on brake
-Make sure transmission is in manual mode
-Move DCT shifter up as if you're downshifting and hold
-Go wide open throttle past kick-down - flags appear
-You can release the brake and the car won't move until you let go of the shift lever, or let go of the shift lever and then the brake pedal and then you'll launch

Try this and report back. Just don't do too many

page 66, first thing I looked up when I got the car home. Here's a pic of the BMW manual, hopefully that satisfies ParkNuts.

Pretty sure I tried this in the past without any luck unless the stick was moved forward. I've only launched the car once.
