Speed Limiter Removal on PPK?

Hey everyone - I've got to remove the Speed Limiter on my N55 (Stage 1 BMW PPK), it's driving me nuts. Any suggestions? Can it be done without going JB4?

Thanks in advance...

The BMS speed delimiter only works for the N54 engine because BMW made the N55 annoyingly hard to work with according to Terry. There are no other standalone speed delimiter options for the N55 that I know of...

Yeah, I fear you may be correct (That N55's are a bitch to work with).

Grrr...not giving up just yet though. Hoping to find a solution because cutting out on the track could be frustrating, to say the least.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Speed Delimiter? Please?

I would ask someone who does flash tunes like Giac in the states. My German tuner over here offers to remove the speed limiter.

Yeah - every day... ;-/

Please read the whole thread in which I stated it would be frustrating for it to cut out on the track. I have two Track Days coming up in early September...

Don't think it 'cuts out' as such, just won't got above limited speed, no different to reaching vmax in any other car...?
I'll let you know in two weeks time when I track mine for the first time at RAF Marham

It would though depend on what track you are going on, as I'd be surprised if you'd reach vmax anyway on any traditional road course, however, if it's an airfield where you get to play with the whole length of a runway, then being able to reach vmax is most likely.

I believe it cuts fuel so as not to go above the limited speed, but I could be wrong...

Definitely let me know how your track day goes...sounds like it's going to be awesome! Where is RAF Marham?

Yes. All bmw's are limited to 210 kph unless they have M sport option(s) which includes "840 Increased top speed limiter" as part of the two sport package(s) (ZMP & ZSP), then they are limited to 250 kph.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=top+speed+840

AND if the car is a M model... it is limited to 250 kph unless you go thru BMW's M driving school and pay to have a dealer raise the limiter to 280 kph. Most M models will do "over 300 kph" is truly unrestricted.

On models with the "M" package, yes...I believe it's 155. My car was dead stock, it had the sport package, but not the M package. 135 Top speed limiter. It sucks. The car is at 4500 RPM in sixth gear at 135mph...

Here is my 6MT car in 6th gear at V-max on the Autobahn. I have M Sport option ie: 250 kph limiter.

That was back when my car was stock. Now I have a flash tune and I've seen 6,400 rpms (~280 kph) in 6th numerous times.

With that aluminum window trim, you do not have the sport package. Do your seats have the adjustable thigh support?

I thought it had the sport package, but I could be mistaken...I'm the second owner and it's a CPO car. The dealer (As good as they were in some areas) didn't give me much history on the car at all. I found out after the fact that it had the full BMW performance suspension, which I asked them about when I test drove it (It was obviously not stock) but they didn't know.

I don't have the M seats with the adjustable thigh support...I added the Stage 1 PPK (Great add) and the rest is as I purchased it.

THAT. IS. FANTASTIC. Great photo and exactly what I want to see in my cluster when I'm on it in 6th...
