Heat problem on the Snap-in Adapter for Iphone 4/4s

Hi

I've searched any heat problem on the adapter, but I didn't have any luck finding yet.

Situation was like;

I parked my 135i outside for about 2-3 hrs on a sunny day, a couple days ago. After that I hooked my iPhone 4s to the adapter. Drove about 10-20 min and then my phone stopped working from the iDrive screen. I took the phone off from the adapter and got the message on the iPhone's screen. (see the attachment)

I'm wondering if anyone had the same experience using the snap-in adapter?

Is the adapter possibly defective?

Note: I also noticed the similar heating issue (but not with the message in the picture) with iPhone 4

Thanks,

Sean

Do you have the attachment with the fan built into it?

Yes. It DOES have a fan and I can hear it's spinning when I plug in my iPhone.

Not sure then. I use mine all day and leave it in the car sometimes and when I finally pull it out it's not very hot at all. Good luck.

I've got the media adapter with the fan, and my iphone gets quite hot also. I haven't got the iphone overheat message yet. Sometimes, I leave the armrest lid open, and that seems to help a bit.

I have had the phone get the Temp warning just from leaving it in the car in a glovebox before.

No doubt that cradle was very hot from sitting in the sun, then when you mounted the phone it became an iPhone oven. I would say next time leave the armrest open until the interior of the car cools down significantly.

So many issues I hear about with these cradles. I will probably end up getting one, but I will just buy a dock extender cable and keep the phone in its case, and in the cupholder or under armrest pouch.

I think the problem is with the current heat wave we are having now and the iPhone itself. Mine goes into the "Temperature" mode by itself quite a bit if I leave it exposed to the sun in the car. So I try to put it where the sun won't hit it.
