OT: n54 vs n55

I feel sorry for the 55ers

If they only knew they could get a stock 54 throw on a tune and some suspension upgrades and have a budget M car :

Only real problem with the N55 (apart from missing a turbo) is that it's MAF sensored. When it comes to tuning the load values that the ECU sees from the MAF sensor cannot be easily manipulated hence the reason COBB still can't work out the correct algorithm for a flash and I don't think they will for a while yet.

I saw somewhere that the new M3 was N55 TTT powered, so don't knock the N55 yet as there maybe a day soon when us N54 guys will be looking at the back of a N55 powered car

But i to hope that the 1M is not the last N54 powered car off the production line
if that is the case there will be no more from now on, that's it end of an era or a big mistake

Maybe the US has killed it due to the legal action with the engine, maybe the pen pushers and been counters at BMW have killed the engine forever. I HOPE NOT

But then wouldn't it be just the same as the 335 with an extra turbo and a tune. M3 have always had an engine vastly different to the other 3 series.

Fark mate, you sound like a broken record with your replies.

N55 is a great engine, just look at the diversity on models it is used in. Just because it harder to tune than the N54, doesn't make it worse.

99.999999% of people don't know the difference between them, further, they probably believe that the new engined cars, F20/30, 5s, 6s and 7s are better than the old engined cars anyway.

Most people don't know what the difference is or will ever use the potential. Sure for the modifiers out there, N54 wins, but the majority of the market don't modify their cars.

Nik and BBK, there was no subliminal message to anyone here re jealousy. Just troll the early day threads/posts re 1M on the main forum and you find all the naysayers are 135i owners, usually kids in the US who were given the car by daddy or mommy for their birthdays.

Fair call. I thought the pic was amusing, if MODERATORS shut this for whatever reason they decide I certainly won't lose any sleep over it.
On the other hand I think people take offense a little to easily it was a 'take the piss' kind of photo. I'm sure if I look hard enough there would be something where the n54 would
