135 exhaust on a 128?

Does anyone know if a 135 muffler will fit on a 128 if the extra length of the 135 pipe is cut off?

More options are available for the 135i (including M style exhaust - I like it but I don't really think it is appropriate for a 128i).

135 exhausts will fit a 128, but will require cutting and welding into the 28's stock system.

I'm running a full Berk 135 exhaust on my 128.

Thanks axoid

thats what I was thinking. Now you mentioned welding; is the pipe on the muffler a different diameter than the 128? Reason I ask is to mount a 128 BMW perf. exhaust a simple connecting clamp is supplied which works well because the pipes are obviously the same size. And to answer the other gent, numerous people are selling 135 performance mufflers for a good price. NOW, all that being said, I do have a 128 BMW PE from Dan ready to be installed in the spring.

The Berk exhaust that I installed is a full system that goes all the way to the front of the car. The Berk pipes were a little bigger than the stock pipes and were welded when they were installed.

Since your just changing your the muffler, you need to be confident that pipe follows the same angles. My advice is to go to a muffler shop. They will have tubing expanders to create to create slip fit install, or they can make adjustments to the pipes if thing don't line up perfectly. Call around locally for a shop that does custom installations (non-chain shops are the best bet). You could also look for a shop that does Hot Rod builds or restoration work. It shouldn't cost too much, especially compared to what BMW parts cost. A whole cat-back for my Camaro costs less that just a muffler for the 1.

I want to install the tips from the 135i on my 128i just because the diameter is a little bigger. It seems to fill the exhaust cut out on the "diffuser" nicely.
