Cool Carbon or Hawk Pads
Like many others, I'm tired of all the brake dust and squeeling from the stock pads. Even more since installing my new wheels.
I'm trying to compare between Cool Carbons and Hawks Any opinions are welcome Car: 2008 135i This is mostly a street car but occasional drag Thanks |

Read cool carbon reviews on e90post. Lot's of users didn't like them and switched out long before they were worn. Hawk HPS imo. They'll be my replacements.

Cool Carbon and Hawk HPS feel similar, with better modulation than OEM pads. Cool Carbon is a street/track pad. HPS is a street pad.
Cool Carbon has much less dust than HPS. Since it's a street/track pad, Cool Carbon also has much higher max temp and will withstand fade better in the mountains of Indiana. Since it's a street pad, HPS has slightly lower working temp and will have slightly better bite on the very first stop of a particular trip or after ten minutes on a freeway. The OP did not ask about track (road course) performance. Cool Carbon is okay for a novice or a good driver who knows how to conserve brake performance. HPS is okay for someone's first event, but after that will fade badly after two or three laps. |

We have many customers that actually switched from Hawk HPS pads to Cool Carbon and that are very pleased. There are also many positive reviews on the forums. They will work for light track, HPDE, autocross etc., but are intended as a street performance pad, not a full track pad. We run them on our cars and would rate them 5/5 for street and 3/5 for track. Friction level cold is about 10% greater than BMW OE. Friction level increases with heat which makes them excellent as a daily driver and also even better performance once heated up for more aggressive driving. They are very easy to modulate and very comfortable to drive. They do not offer the boat anchor out of the window bite that a few may prefer but instead are very smooth and very linear with very good stopping power and also very rotor friendly.
