My nose didn't drop... the problem was the screws on the underside off the bumper/tray weren't all the way in... solved.

I looked at Helix, but ETS seemed better fit for me...more technical data, no trimming, proven results.

The Helix is meant to be good (Wagner copied Helix design) ... too big though IMO.

Ha.. Don't think so, with me running those heavy duty H&R's..

Have discussed the stepped FMIC with Justin@Advan several times, and he is convinced after extensive research, that is the way to go for greater cooling, with a greater front facing cooling service area..
ETS can be purchased from:
http://alekshop.com/products/ets_bmw_1m_intercooler_kit
https://www.sonicms.net/index.php?ro...product_id=640
http://hpashop.com/Extreme-Turbo-Sys...ler-e82-1m.htm

or from ETS direct. I bought from HPA

I'd be interested in the 'research'.

due to the very little size of the FMIC's available for the n54 imho they are all about the same performance wize, so in the end i really dont think it matters. but my research found the main factor we can play with is the 'shape' of the IC and end tanks, here is a link (as a sample) of the flow through the IC, http://www.are.com.au/techtalk/intecoolersMR.htm scroll down to the Shape or Profile bit (about half way down). based on this i couldn't see how the 'stepped' design is going to help.

Haha... Speak to Justin in the name of "research"..

Its not so much the "step" but increased air flow area, without changing the depth thickness of the FMIC..BY the time air passes through a 6-7inch deep FMIC, it decreases its cooling qualities the deeper the core.

Agree with end tanks quality and shape.

Aleks knows his stuff, uses ETS in all their N54 race/track cars. TIP: tell them to pack it more carefully than they did mine.

I ordered from HPA, as they had stock at the time. ETS units are often on backorder due to their popularity.

That's what Aleks told me. They are having a hard time getting orders filled from ETS due to its popularity of straight bolt on with no cutting.

The blue tape and brown facing cardboard are actually transparent to air flow..

Comes with all the brackets and hardware for on roof mounting on the 1M..
