It might be beneficial to shift the weight balance rearward, and specifically to get weight off the nose (i.e. adding weight to the drunk it's necessarily good).

That said, I agree that things like a CF hood are expensive, and that money is MUCH better spent upgrading the 135i suspension.

Get M3 suspension parts and coilovers instead.

50/50 distribution while in motion is a good thing for balance and maintaining evenly distributed load on the tires and thus more grip. The more weight on the tire, the more heat will be put into it and thus it will lose grip faster. If all four tires are sharing the load equally it will improve grip overall versus if one corner or side is doing the majority of the work. For example, all a sway bar is doing is helping distribute the cornering forces over the tires more equally than if there was no sway thus increasing grip. I wouldn't alter the distribution just for balance though. You can tweak your alignment and other suspension settings to adjust the cars behavior first. I run a square tire setup and a custom alignment to my specs to get the behavior I am looking for.

I recently found out that the E92 M3 is also 52/48. So if BMW was happy with that on the M3, then I guess we can be happy with it too.

and then...

Everytime I find myself with thouhgts like this I start thinking of a Cayman. My wife and I both have 128i's (one of them replaced a Z4 coupe) and I sometimes think about replaceing one of them with a Cayman as it is factory built to all of the desired qualities that are being discussed here. I have had a brief drive in one and it is that good.

BMW designed the 1 series with Eastern Europe in mind. There the "dead hook rule" comes into effect. Perfect 50/50 weight distribution while evading the cops with a dead hooker in the trunk.

I would just find some dead weight to put in the back and see if you get that 3 series balanced feel you originally talked about before putting a ton of coin into CF everything.
