BMW 128i Euro 4?

Does anybody know if a BMW 128i 2008 qualifies for EURO 4 emission standard?

I've seen one 128i registered in Germany & perhaps available for sale mentioned on 1er-forum.de. So there is certainly some overlap with at least euro 5. Euro 4 was 130i days.

a 128i is probably Euro-4 rated as far as CO2 emissions. It probably also matters which engine the car has: N51 or N52n and IF the car is a ULEV model (CA/NY/CT, ect states).


IF you are thinking about importing a car into Germany... it can be costly. Plus the older a car gets the higher they tax you over here(every year!).

I would be willing to bet it is. But the import tax.....whew!

I had some family pictures and the DVD sent via fed ex. $77.38 wound upcoming out to a €31.38 Zollreichnung! Imagine what a vehicle would cost.

Basically anything you have shipped over to Germany (like when I order on Amazon.co.uk to my German address) IF the German Zoll (Customs) get to it first... you can count on paying about +36% on it! The package gets sent to the local customs office in your city and you have to pay the customs guys there.

I can not imagine dealing with those guys with a car purchase. They are hard to deal with when the value is just a few hundred dollars. With a car transaction they are gonna be total jerks.


Another reason to buy a German spec car is... US spec one series are limited to 210 kph unless they have the M-Sport option. Then they are limited to 250 kph. Also things like brake pads and tire specs are different for German spec cars. Plus some of the headlight/turn signals will need to be coded for EU specs. You might evenhaveto replace the headlights which are not cheap! ~600 euros each plus pulling off the bumper cover.

Or in my case Fedex paid the zoll....then sent me the bill.

still trying to see if I need to pay them back or tell them to get the money back from the steuer man.
