I have resolved this issue.
I put on 225/245 Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric All Seasons and used the VB3 as my winter rims. turns out that the wheels are a more aggressive offset (as noted by many people here), and that with a narrower tire, ive rubbed once in about 600 miles so far.

Have any of you guys used an 18x9.5 et33 offset in the rear with vmr vb3's? I'm going to be picking some up and that's the offset I want to go with. I saw a picture of another 1 using that offset but no idea if he had any rubbing issues.

Interesting problem you have here as the offsets are not THAT far off what is usually recommended for a 255 rear tyre. If I'm not mistaken, the higher the offset, the more inwards the wheel comes to the vehicle.
I'll be running a 19x8 ET48 225/35 and 19x9 ET50 255/30 front and rear on Michelin PSS. Hopefully I won't get any rubbing on stock suspension....though I am looking at the BMW PS as well after the wheel change. Hopefully I'll be ok too? |

Not sure though since you'll be on 19s.

I'm unsure also, but it's all about rolling diameter and width if i am not mistaken. I calculated the differences using this tool (I recommend anyone else who changes wheels/tyres does the same):
http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp VS. OEM: Fronts 4mm closer to suspension/brakes 6mm father sticking out in fenders 6mm additional wheelwell fill 1.8% faster on speedometer Rears 3mm closer to suspension/brakes 7mm father sticking out in fenders 4mm additional wheelwell fill 1.3% faster on speedometer An 18" wheel package saw almost identical variances as the tyre width was upped from 215 to 225 and 245 to 255 respectively. The 19's only saw a step down in tyre wall height from 40 to 35 and 35 to 30 respectively. |
