Can't answer that one. Got to rely on the info posted by the owner (Belgian forum fellow Dave72). He also posted that, for track days only with his 1M, he now got himself a set replicas featuring used Michelin tires with the following specs: 245/35R19 front (normal) and - fasten your seatbealt - 305/30R19 (!).

I totally agree with you, Oz. 19" is already on the limit for the 1M pocket rocket. 20" is to my eyes 1" too much + probably requires a special budget for tires (not to mention how it compromises ride comfort outside the track + fender liners health). To each his own.

305? That's all? Real 1M drivers slap 315s Hoosiers on the back of their car (along with 265s on the front). The 315s fit without any clearance issues. The 265s can touch the fender liners.

I know you already did it and I agree with everyone who thinks that this car can't have too much tire at the rear. Having said that, don't you think anything over 295 is a bit too wide for the stock 10 inch wide wheels?

And a question: How would you feel about a 245/35 19 (stock) fr and 295/30 19 rear set up on stock wheels and suspension (basically maximizing the rear tire width alone while the rest remain stock) for mostly road use? Why or why not?

In an autocross environment, the 315 is worth while, especially for Pro Solo and its drag strip style launch. The car was pretty successful off the line against the C5 non-Z06 Vettes. Turns were another story.

As to a 245/295 I think that would be fine save for actual tire costs. I consider street/daily driving to be a compromise at best, so I look for "cheap, rubber, and the ability to hold air" for tire purchases (plus my alignment chews up tires a bit). I saw Contis at TireRack to be a good price for DD duties rather than pay a premium for the PSS/PS2 set up. The Contis (Continental ExtremeContact DW) in a 245/265 set are $920 (plus shipping, tax, BUT road hazard is included. The PS2 are $1,602 and PSS are $1,158 with tax, shipping, road hazard extra). Yes, I am a cheap bastard. How the hell did I end up with a 1M?

Forum fellow Fundahl answered affirmatively the question "Will 295/30/19 fit stock 1M rears ?":
"I am running them but the back will rub on bumps if you don't roll that stupid little metal tab out of the way. 295/30R19 Pilot Super Sports.
WAYyyy more grip. 1st gear sticks now and I can throttle out of sharper turns in 2nd without throwing the ass way out."

Well, compared to other equally capable sports cars with an edge, 1M is cheap too, maybe that's why

Thanks for the reply. I assume I won't have any serious DSC or handling issues just by changing the rears wider, that's something to try for me in the near future but I am not totally decided yet since I am quite satisfied with stock size PSS all around and definitely don't want to create a less agile car.

Thanks Artemis. Actually Fundahl was the only one who mentioned the "stupid little metal tab" but must be an issue on all cars I assume.

It is always good to ask people like Matt these specific questions since they are pushing the car and its set up more than most of us and has a direct experience about the car's change of behaviour after certain chassis mods.

The C5s I'm competing against are selling used for about $18k to $22k. Tons of aftermarket stuff too.

FWIW, I shut off all the electronics (five second hold) and engage the M button. The only time the handling got weird was when the tires were going away. They had a lot of runs and the car pushed. I put on fresh tires and it was a fun car again.

Any pictures showing the offset?
Any pictures showing how far the wheels stick out from the fenders?
Also, any rubbing with this setup?
