OK... I am looking for some help determining if there is a reasonable solution to the following puzzle.
I currently have a 1M and a 135 M-Sport. I do track the M and I purchased the 135 to run at Targa Newfoundland. I would like to purchase an 18" square set-up (wheels and tires) for the 1M track days that I could also use on the 135 at Targa Newfoundland. Obviously I do not want to give up on performance when they are on the 1M but they can not rub during sharp cornering or full compression of the suspension on the 135. So..does anyone have a suggestion that may work for me? I belive that the off-sets will be extremely important if there is indeed a solution. I would appreciate all feedback...that would include telling me that "I can't get there from here". Thanx. |

I assume it would work, but not work properly. Most running square setups on 135s are running something like 18x8.5et40 with 235/35 tires. Much wider and you rub. You could put that on a 1M but you'd be giving up an inch or two in tire width.

OP, you're going to give up a significant amount of grip by using wheels that fit the 135 fenders. IMHO, the stock wheel/tire setup on the 1M is already offers insufficient grip and those wheels won't fit on the 135. Anything less than a 245F on the 1M is asking for massive understeer.
Others may know of a compromise solution, but I'd be wary of a setup that sacrifices grip for convenience. |

Thanx. for your responses. I was pretty sure that I have no options but it is alway better to ask and get it over with.
Now I need to find more money and more space in the garage for the additional two sets of wheels and tires. |

+1
Also because the other way around (1M wheels on a 135i) is a no go if you want to spare yourself the hassle of fender rolling: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=718876
