I got the SG because I thought it would look best with the black mirrors compared to my other color finalist (TiAg). Maybe it's just me, but I think it'll look good, especially once the entire front grilles are gloss black. Only frustration is BMW Perf. diffuser is CF and not black.

Definitely agree on SG vs. TiAg. I find it interesting how few TiAg 1-series seem to be out there in general.

Mineral Gray is the closest to SGM that I've seen on an actual car (see pic below, looks very SG in that pic) and I think it looks fine with the black mirrors, though it's a bit darker color and thus the contrast is less noticeable.

Btw, I like how this thread has basically become a support group for those of us waiting to get our damn cars...hopefully on Monday! Got my smoked amber-gones ready and blackline LCIs and Lux 5000ks on order so I'm getting antsy...

Agreed - I need a support group!!!! Freaking ship is on its way to Halifax, then to NY, then I'm betting on VPC delays because why WOULDN'T it be delayed?!

Well I'm not waiting on an IS but I need a support group also. After waiting 4 months for my car to materialize now I'm no more than 3 miles away from it and have to wait for bs paperwork to be completed. Really sucks knowing its just chilling in a warehouse right around the corner and I can't do anything with it yet. Hopefully all the registration paperwork will be done by next week. These people drag their feet for everything.

I have been massively delayed. Due to the storm my ship was bypassed to Baltimore. It was then trucked to the NJ VPC. No problems there. A work order was opened on the 8th (presumably to install the IS parts since I found out that it is done at the port). I was told that it was released to trucking on the 16th but my car is still there. (today is the 22nd) My dealer has received a few truck loads but my car is nowhere to be seen yet. getting a little frustrated

I'm still not clear on the parts getting installed at the VPC. Does that mean BMW sends cars over with perfectly good exhausts only to be cut off after less than ten miles of driving? And if you elected for the blue stitched interior, does this mean they take out perfectly good seats and replace them? Do they replace the wheels there and just hold onto the others? I guess I could see the flash being done, or even the badges, but it doesn't make much sense to me otherwise.

The 'is' parts are installed at the factory. Prior to the 'is' there was some installs at the vpc. Regarding the work order...all cars get a work order when they come off the boat. I know because I asked the dealer why I had a work order on mine. It was unloaded a day before Sandy and of course I was concerned. They open a work order to confirm that the car has been received with no damage before they move it to the next stage which is transport to the dealer.

I've asked different people about what is installed where and I can't get a straight answer. It's weird bc you can euro deliver a 335is but not a 135is. (I tried) When I emailed BMW NA they told me that they install the "optical" parts at the port. what does that mean?

Your sales person can get a little more information than you can off the bmwusa site. My sales associate told me that the work order was in on the car and that's how I learned of this. He also told me when the car was awaiting shipment from the vpc. This too is a status that is not available on the bmwusa site.

Just talked to my CA who said that my car didn't come last week as expected because there had been some delay in installing the "is parts"--this is what he had gotten from the regional guy at the VPC apparently, so it backs up the notion that some stuff is going on at the port. Have just been trading voicemails but will see if I can get any other details. In the meantime, the car *might* come tomorrow...

All this waiting has me wary of Coral Red. It was the one thing I was SURE of during the order, now I'm wondering if it'll get old quickly. I'm sure when I see it in person (never have), I'll love it.

I've seen Coral red, it wont get old. If I hadn't gotten a blue exterior, I would seriously have considered it. It looks great.
