I, often times, have to be the one to initiate a race, since most people dont realize that some BMWs have turbos. They figure "if its not an M series then why bother"!?. I love it how after they are defeated they immediately pull up tightly behind me...i imagine a look of confusion on their faces when they see the "135i" badge.

I found the "Challenger" to be no challenge at all. Rolled from a stop light and the SRT punched it...that thing was loud as hell...had the top down and couldn't hear my shift points. I was totally stock at the time and pulled on him no problem at all...2 car lengths by the time I got to 70 and let off. Now that I'm mod'd and E85...nobody has even tried...

Bone stock vs a bolt on EVO 9 - He got me by about half a car length
Bone stock vs FBO STI - from a roll on the autobahn, got me by about a full car length to a car length and a half Only two "races" I have had so far. Was pretty happy with my results even though I lost both. |

At the dragstrip, I raced a 2011 GT500 and put about 10 car lengths on him by the end of the 1/4 mile. All I had at the time was tune, downpipes and fmic on 93 octane earlier this year (timeslip is in the N54 turbo section).

Getting into a few speed contests dont mean you are an irresponsible teenager weaving in and out of traffic on wet roads.
It always makes me laugh when threads like this come up and all the people that scoff at a little stop light fun or a good highway roll. There is a time and a place for this sort of thing. If its a nice open stretch with no traffic and you just happen to get next to someone that has the same thoughts, then why not? Punch the throttle, row some gears and have a little fun. Some of my more preferred times though are getting into a nice little group of performance cars on the autobahn and watching my MPG drop and drop and drop as we stay at 140+mph for a nice distance, lol. |

The older GT500's really aren't all that special. The new ones are beasts though lol. We both had bad starts, but he was definitely on it still as he trapped 115mph to my 117mph (he had bad shifts though).

Debating about getting it dyno tuned soon, but this was done with an off the shelf pump gas map from Cobb earlier this year when ATR wasn't even out. All I had done was Stage 2+ map, catless downpipes and a fmic. Here is my thread with further info: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=644020
Best time as of today is a 12.158@118.50 on stock runflats. |

my only street race to date was against a Ferrari F355. we both took a right turn into a main street with him behind me. once we got on the main street he pulled up beside me and we both gunned it from 2nd all the way to red line in 3rd. it was literally a tie before we had to slow down. keep in mind the Ferrari has the same power as mine but weights 400 lbs less. I probably shifted faster than it's crappy first generation F1 transmission
