Downpipe N55 installation question
I just got my AR 4in downpipe for my 135i N55 DCT and when trying to install it yesterday after removing the splash protector I realized that there is no way to get to the turbo-downpipe clamp to unbolt it without taking some parts appart, can any one with experience tell me what should i remove to install this downpipe? thanks a lot

I was able to get in with a deep well socket and some extensions.

Did my install yesterday and did allot of research before I started. There are 2 ways to go about it IMO.
1 Using the right tools and not removing the motor mount. 2 Removing the motor mount then you have more space to work with. I would suggest you use a lift and do it with the help of some one who knows how to lift the motor to get the mount out if you choose to go that route. Took us 2hours with removing the mount to do the install Have a look this attached file |

I didn't remove the motor mount or something else that was required. It was pretty difficult but it's definitely possible. You just have to make some of your own tools. I did it on ramps and man was that a bitch.

I installed my AR dp with a buddy who had an N54. The installation was really simple all in all. Use a lift and have the right tools and its a breeze.

Wanted one that stated which specific tool for each step and so on. I can get/find the tools, just need an in-depth step by step. I am going to hit up Terry today that was my last plan. THANKS bro... QUESTION: Is the stock pipe really that big, it looks huge compared to the BMS DP. |

Yes, the stock DP is gigantic compared to an aftermarket one. Trying to find something to help ya, if I come across any helpful guide, I'll message it your way!

If you have a lift and proper tools, once you get the car up and the weather shield off, it's really pretty easy.

THIS is why I love this community everyone is willing to help if not get an answer for you.
THANK YOU!!! I got a friend who knows about this and took like 2 hr-ish. He did it with a jack and some stands. Took the engine mount off and used the jack/stands to support the engine. The sounds is amazing...I do not even use my radio anymore, lol. I did find an install PDF for the N55 for a Vishnu D-pipe, same concept with every other DP. It says step by step how to do it, but it if freaking impossible to do it this way. Hope this help, took me some time to find. |
