It's not foam, just heavy duty rubber sheets. You can buy it at OSH or Home Depot, etc.

Ian were you mocking that dood in ur sig who said he liked the 328 over his 135? Cuz i sorta felt the 328 loaner I had felt a lil faster in the lower gears myself. I know pretty much why but still.

Why not just take it to the dealer and have them resolve it? Also, the armrest on the doors has been known to squeek....a shot of WD-40 between the arm rest and door panel stops it. Mine did it after the first winter....now a year later, still no squeek. You can also spray a leather protectorant in there and it also works.

I did but it just comes back... and I don't want my car in the shop so much

Be very careful using WD40 on plastics as it can soften it and you'll find the joint being worn away...quiet while it's doing it though!

I think he means graphite as a lubricant on the hinge.

Graffite can be used to lubricate areas where oil or liquid can be a problem.

dont be bro, I think you nailed the problem. I too noticed the scuff marks there. I didnt think to add some a piece of rubber sheet though, i just kept thinking about what i could use. My fix was just drive w/ my arm resting on the arm rest, as long as I put pressure, there is no squeak but I can tell this will fix it permanently

if you do a no corrosive safe plastic lube like seafoam i belive you can buy it at autozone on the hinge part and the diy at the beggining of this post it becomes silent

I just checked my 2012, and I can clearly see scuffing at the back of the lid as OP described. I'll be trying the fix this weekend!

Well, liberally spraying the hinge with ICE interior cleaner /protectant 100% solved the issue with my 2012 128. Armrest totally silent now even on rough roads. I'm sure though its not going to be a permanent fix but if I have to repeat only every month or so that's be fine.

Will have to have a look at this, suddenly in the past two weeks the squekes have gotten louder and really bad, I got 120k KM with silent motoring so I must be lucky lol.I will see if I can snap some pics later.

had some velcro, stuck it on the plastic, fuzzy side up and now all is well!
