Engine Number
Hi,
I'm importing my car to the UK and I need to find the engine number. I know where it is on the block but BMW here in Germany want me to pay 200 euros to find out. I think this is ridiculous! I have a US Spec 135i. Can anyone help? Best, M |

^^yea... that is the engine "code" or "type" but that ain't the engine number!!
I bet you have to remove the intake manifold to get at the engine's serial number. Perhaps that is WHY(?) your BMW zentrum wants so much money to tell you the engine serial number. IF you are indeed importing a US car into Germany... your gonna really want good documentation. I would just pay your bmw zentrum and have it all documented. Wait to you go to the TÜV and they zing you for a "complete" TÜV inspection for 200 euros. And then your gonna have the joys of paying some serious import fee's and duty/tax +19%) on the car. ![]() |

I'm importing to the UK. Waiting now on a letter of compliance. Hopefully that goes well. Luckily the coding team will be in Stuttgart next week, i'll need to figure out what needs to be done. Thanks Dack and all, M Last edited by PUREPHAZED; 01-31-2013 at 01:56 PM. Reason: add picture |
