Don't expect people who don't have respect for themselves respect you or your property. Just stay away from them as much as you can, they might be up for a confrontation, this behaviour can be just provocation so don't buy it. In your case, if you notice someone parking always correctly and carefully to the point of OCD in addition to being respectful to everyone, choose parking next to them or in between them even if there are emptier spaces around. Sorry for this misfortune.

I would honestly lose all kinds of shit if this happened. I'm always anal about scratches and dings on my cars. Even my 10 year old Audi gets babied and I agonize over every little thing and park the cars on the other side of the state when I go shopping (according to Fiancee).

Hopefully it is easily repainted. I hope you get the asshole though.

Ugh, very sorry to hear about your issue. I'm thoroughly convinced that 90% of humans on this planet are complete and utter sh!t. I may be naive with that number as well.

That presume oh this person has a nice car, must be spoilt person. It is my right to take him/her down a peg or two. They don't understand that you worked hard to buy such a luxury item. It is very difficult dealing with such a mentality as they are too stuck on their own ways to admit they are not wise to lead their life in any other way. I hope your car doesn't get keyed again my friend. I would try to swap my car park spot as fighting back with these people will just escalate matters needlessly.

I really, really hate it when people disrespect someone else's property (especially when it's a car).

I have a hardwired Blackvue DR400G-HD II dashcam (hardwire job courtesy of Premier Protective Films in NorCal). *Highly* recommend it.

Makes me want to wrap my car even more now, just in case someone comes by and decides to key it, I have an extra layer of protection.

I am not too proud of my past actions but I too had a car keyed years ago.

I had just bought an S2000 when they came out in 2000'. Had the car for 2 days and some d**kless turd keyed my car from the headlights to the tailights. I was so angry about the whole ordeal that I swore if I ever saw someone keying my car or anyone else's car for that matter, that person was going to pay.

Long story short, about 14 months go by and one day I was walking out of Super Target when I spotted a person walking between some really nice cars where he proceeded to key about 7 cars as he was making his way to the entrance.

Seeing this unfold right in front of me, the past rage built back up and immediately it brought me back to exactly that anger level when my car got keyed. I altered my path to my car to intersect with his path and just as he got close to me and my right side ( as I can throw a right much harder than my left) I focused all my anger into one devastating blow.

Needless to say, I took him off his feet and he landed completely flat on his back, out like a light. Just as I was about to bend down and clue him in as to why he got the s**t knocked out of him. 2 of his friends appeared into view. Apparantly I was so fixated on the guy who keyed the cars that I never noticed his friends walking a few paces behind him watching his handy work. The biggest one asked, "what did you do that for". I told him while pointing to there buddy still on the ground and still knocked out that " this is what happens to people who key cars, you understand". Both his buds replied, Yea sir, I then said " so ya'll clue your buddy in when he wakes up". Then I just turned around , walked to my car, and drove off.

I looked back though the rear view mirror just as I was pulling out of the parking lot to see his buds had got him sitting up.

Needless to say, I am not too proud of my actions but I can assure you that this dude will think twice about keying a car again.

Yeah, that's why I wrapped mine. It's expensive to do a full car custom wrap (protective film, not vinyl), but it's totally worth it (to me).

Many years ago I had gotten up around 4:30am to prepare for an early morning flight. Whilst sipping on my coffee at home I suddenly heard a cracking sound and people laughing, somewhere outside on the street. This repeated a couple of times so I checked what was going on: a group of twenty-something guys were randomly kicking off side mirrors of parked cars. Clearly drunk after a night out in the posh area. Each one of them 'took care' of a parked car time and time again: kick and laugh. Dreadful act - stomach turning noise.

I called the police and managed to give a precise description. Police arrived fairly quickly but the guys had already dashed off to other streets. So I took my car too and cooperated with the Police in tracking them down in the neighborhood. And indeed they were retrieved. The culprits denied. So as regards proof, that's a 'word against word' situation. The Police asked me if I was willing to identify them, but warned me in advance that they got to report my details in their files if I did (so I would be identifiable by the culprits and their lawyers). The Police added that, without my testimony "those rich spoilt brats" probably would have a good laugh and remain out of touch, and victims might not recover the damage.

So I identified them all with a clear conscience (yep, 100% positive ID) and made a declaration.

Later that day I noticed a police note between all damaged cars (± 15 cars in my street) requesting the car owners to contact the Police related to car vandalism occurred earlier that day. I guess all owners got indemnified.

Never heard anything from this story anymore.

Stood on the fence and did the right thing. But I took a risk of getting myself into (future) trouble. You never know with bad losers. Some people told me that, for your own good, sometimes it's better to steer clear from interfering with trouble. It's ambiguous. Your heart breaks and conscience bites back if you look away, but sometimes that's the choice to make when considering the balance of interests between your personal interests, those of others and values such as righteousness and justice.

You did the right thing and what i would have done...too many people are afraid to confront dickheads...but they need to be put in their place and maybe jail is that place.
