Any updates on your end? I haven't had the time to install mine. Plus, it's been brutally cold here lately. |

Yeah I put mine in Friday night in my garage, took maybe 15 mins to take everything out, clean with rubbing alcohol, and put it all back together, very very happy with the fit compared to the old design, no SES lights, no leaks, no slipping. I'm happy they got it figured out!

Good to hear the new parts worked out for you. Did they happen to send you a new MAS gasket? I didn't get one, and I think I might need a new one once I attempt the install. As for the pics, if you have a Photobucket account, you can email them to photobucket and they will upload them to your account automatically. Just go to your User Settings and then click on Mobile. It'll give you your own email address to send them to. Its designed for those people without smartphones to be able to upload photos directly from their phones. |

That looks so much better. I have no idea how someone could have thought the previous design was actually a good idea. Thanks for the pics!

Finally put mine on, and I'm so glad I took it to my parents' house to do it because my dad has everything you could ever need short of a lift to work on your car. Because we ran into a few problems installing the new intake.
Turns out, my stock intake was replaced recently, and right off the bat we discovered that the screws holding in my MAS were different than the threads in the aFe tubing. So we had to find some screws that worked and modified them to fit. We also couldn't use the rubber gasket from the new MAS in the aFe tubing because it didn't match up right. Had to use some silicone to seal it. Huge flaw in the design if you're rocking a newer stock intake tubing. The metal tubing band clamp thing, one of them was too small. I ended up dropping one of them into the bottom of the engine, which delayed us an hour or so trying to dig that out. Everything is on though, so I'll have to keep an eye on that MAS to make sure it doesn't throw any codes. |

can anybody take the Interior Diameter of both ends of the new coupler ? That would be great for all of us stuck with the shitty first gen coupler.
I have a aFe intake laying in the garage for 2 months now which I tried to installed, but the damn coupler just doesn't want to hold. From the pictures it looks like a very soft silicon coupler (non reinforced). |

Answer from aFe :
3 ½ x 3 3/4 ID and 3 Length I have found a couple place where to order couplers, thing is, it has to be soft enough to become oval. From experience, good couplers are made to be stiff and not deform. I face the same issue couple years ago fitting a 65mm TB to a 2.5in coldpipe on my SRT-4. The solution was actually to buy a cheaper (read lower quality) non-reinforced reducer. |
