Need help warrantee running out in three days
The warrantee on my 2009 128 is running out in three days. There are 48,000 miles on the car and I was wondering if there's anything I need to get checked out before it runs out and I end up with all the bills.
Can anyone share with their experiences with things that might be acting up or they wish they checked out before their warranty expired?. Thanks |

I'll be at the same point here shortly, with 37K mine expires in June. Had mine in for inspection today; brakes are at 3/32", so we're playing a game of 'beat the clock' cuz I'd hate for the warranty to run out and have my brake light come on the day after
![]() Have your brakes been done yet?

You could always take it to a dealer unfamiliar with the car and have them do a check... or a trusted indy shop. Being it's a 128 there are less things to go wrong. Also, if you believe what you read here, everyone has problems but you have to remember there aren't too many of us who get on here to boast about how little hassle their cars give them. Most of us got here looking for a solution to a problem, we are enthusiasts, there are many more folks out there who bought their '28s and '35s and just drive them, paying no more attention to their awesomeness than they would to a Yaris. By far, the majority of people treat them (as Dack would say) as an 'appliance'. 9 out of every 10 people I meet at a gas pump and talk BMW have no idea what car they are even driving! Not just 328s but 750s, 550s, etc.
I put a few bux away each month for stuff that comes along - if I don't use it I'll upgrade something. I think if these cars are left unmolested they can and will last a long time.

Take it to the dealer and ask for an inspection
They will do this as a courtesy (at least mine did at 49.5k miles). The dealer gets reimbursed for warranty work so they should be more than happy to do the inspection.

That's definitely an option. I've never gotten a BMW extended warranty and I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to keep the car. I'm thinking about upgrading to a bigger car so I can fit the whole family. 2014 m3?!
![]() Has anyone purchased the warantee. I'm not sure how much it is I think I remember it being $2500. Please let me know your thoughts. |
