Evolve is the best..lightweight... If I could afford it, I would have bought it rather than ETS. Forge is nice too.

A small increase in power/torque was noted pre and post fitting during the development and dyno time, how much I cannot remember off hand and will need to find the dyno chart (I am currently in Paris). A decrease in IT temps by approx 15deg was indicated after 6 dyno runs, running oem software but ecu has adapted well. No noticeable lag that had been touched upon by other re uprated IC and standard software, power delivery no significant notable change, throttle response in M mode is still an explosive experience. Build quality, weld finish and couplings is spot on.

would love to see those dyno numbers before i go ahead and make the decision to purchase the forge. their are so many intercoolers on the market and want to make sure that i am purchasing the best intercooler for my 1m. by the pictures, the forge looks like a work of art compared to other intercoolers that i have seen.

Hi
I installed the forge and am very happy with it, I
Mainly went for the forge on my tuners recommendation and the fact it was
A bolt in fit no mods or cutting at all just straight exchange.tuner said all the different ones they had put on various 1m's were very similar with temp and performance gains but others you needed to cut the bumper , nothing you would see from outside but I didn't want to start cutting the car to bits, the tuner I used only recommended 402bhp with stock IC and around 430bhp with an aftermarket IC I ended up with 432.8bhp so was quite happy with that

For those of you who have installed the Forge part on your 1M, did you keep the air duct that goes between the bumper and the FMIC? If so, how much was trimmed? Simply unclipping it (as stated in the install instructions) does not seem to be a very elegant solution.

It was stock before didn't get a dyno run before just after, tuner
Gave me the figures he had been getting on other 1m's, so I opted for the forge
Mainly because it was a straight swap no mods to do

I trimmed the lower portion of the shroud. If you dont then you are blocking the lower part of the core (basically whatever frontal area that is larger than OEM).

I left the top and the sides of the shroud on so air is forced through the core. I feel removing the part (shroud) completely will give air an easier route around the core. Air will flow and take the route of least resistance.

By maximizing the surface area and forcing the air through the core I feel you can get the maximum results out of the unit/upgrade.

You can always buy a new shroud and replace the one you cut if you want to reverse the mod or go back to the OEM look. Honestly you cant even tell it was cut or altered unless you specifically look for it.

Just as an FYI, I was able to use most of the 1M shroud with my ER FMIC. Overall, the install was more painful than that of the Forge part, but the outcome was pretty cool.

FMIC comparison ETS vs. Forge

Dyno: ETS(black line) vs. Forge(red line)

No need to say more here, the dyno chart shows the results!

Interesting...not much in that for $300. Best would be to do 3 dyno runs on each FMIC

The overlay would look very similar to what was posted, with each IC heat soak from subsequent dyno pulls.

What is the weight difference between the 2?

I think the Forge is a bit heavier by 2-3 lbs. I'll have to measure it again...

Thanks Harold. Did the HPA 1M have an OCC installed? It was concerning how much oil was in my stock FMIC when I removed it.
