Congrats on the new car, and I imagine we'll be curious to hear what you think and your opinions comparing it to the other BMWs you've owned as you get more time in it.

Thanks. I really like it so far, but have had little chance to drive it much. They're two very different cars. The 135i is DCT (my first ever "auto") and the M3 was 6MT, and of course turbo v. NA. I like the paddles, but having trouble figuring out when to shift since I'm used to the high revs.

I was about to chastise you in the other post to say you need to post a picture, too!

Wow, looks amazing. Love the carbon black and that picture really shows off the blue of it that in person you only seem to see at certain angles/lighting situations. Man that looks great!

How much smaller/better does the size of your car feel now compared to the M3?

Thanks for the compliments.

I'm holding my thoughts on comparisons until I get some more time driving the 1, but so far, for my driving and circumstances, I'm finding the 1 to be a better fit. Now, if I were a track rat........

Gorgeous.

Carbon Black is the second color (next to Blue Water Metallic) that I didn't have the cajones to order. Swirl marks make me cry, so no black/blue/purpley/awesome-colored cars for me. But damn it's nice.

Yea, exactly. I'll get to the track this season, most likely for one event. I am promising myself the only thing I'm changing for the event is the brake pads, because in reality, I will blow through an entire stock set in one weekend. So I'm rationalizing that I'm saving money. I'll rationalize tracking the runflats by thinking it'll help me get rid of them sooner, which it will.

I'm sure I'll finish the weekend and not be entirely excited about the stock 1er's capabilities. But I've been down the road of turning a non-track car into a track car, and the road does not lead to good places.

For track, M3 please!

My other car is a high revver as well...no power below 4k rpm and the real power doesn't come until 6k rpm. Driving the 135i was strange at first because you really can drive between 2k and 3k rpm in low speed city situations due to the torque. Literally on my way to work on 40 mph roads, with the seven speeds, I shift at 2k rpm, so the rpm needle barely moves. Almost like a CVT transmission. Of course on the open road I wind it up more, 3-4k rpm.

Have fun!

Thanks. Me too. Never had a 'black' car before. This one was a demo, the GM drove it for a while. Loved the color when I saw it.

Thanks for the compliments all. Enjoying the chats too. The M3 side was pretty active on the forum. Hope this side is too. I enjoy the talk with fellow owners.

Beautiful car.... I have CB 135is on order and it's scheduled to be at the port this week. I'll post a pic in a couple of weeks. Will put Dinan tune on asap, also.

Being honest, I'm questioning my decision right now, though. I have loved my 2 e90 N54 cars. The one I have now has PPK with Dinan S2 over top. Has been a fantastic car for 3 years. I didn't even test drive the 1er...dumb move. I hope the car is awesome.

Tyler, welcome to the forum and glad you found us! If you read through the 20 pages of posts you'll find we've all been pretty darn satisfied with our rides. Bottom line, you'll love your 135is! In the current crop of BMWs, it is the driver's car of the bunch and at a price much more obtainable than an M3. Keep us posted!

Tyler - welcome. Buying a car sight unseen - now that takes balls! Still, you will find the E82 an involving, more visceral (read: harsh), and an exciting ride. One of the things it's taken me longest to get used to coming out of a 3-series is the difference during highway driving. The 1 is a lot noisier and more darty. There is something that is just so smooth and refined about a 3 series that doesn't really come through in the 135is. However, what it lacks in that area, it more than makes up for in slapping a smile on your face.

For you, the biggest difference might be the N55. I can't speak to that as I am not very experienced with the tuned N54s. I will be curious to hear how your Dinan tune goes on top of the 135is. I had inquired with them about a tune in January and they told me it was not available yet. Please update this thread with info. For me, I'm not really considering it anymore, as the stock car has more power than I'll ever need or use.

In any event, we want lots of pics when the car arrives! I think we are up to three CB 135is's on 1addicts now.

Looking gooooood. I swear, the 313s are half the reason I'm getting the "is" and totally not biased since mine will be mineral grey when it gets here in a couple of weeks.
