This topic was discussed around the time they launched the M5 two years ago. It was also stated that because the waste gate is closed the trade off was extra fuel consumption.

The only thing I get out of these graphs is that the M button yields no additional power which has been documented by other forum members years ago. IMO Data logs showing throttle position and boost values would be more useful in identifying the benefits of the M button.
