If it happened with the AC off, that would be one thing, but it's definitely AC related, which points to the recirc flap slamming shut- as verified firsthand by someone else who posted above ^. |

But does that sound like its coming from the floor of the footwell? Or more like from the windshield side of the dash? I can't remember if the A/C was on or not and I will pay more attention to it going forward.

Call me dumb, but where is the air recirc valve located?

If you've ever changed your cabin air filter under the door near the windshield, you'll understand what I'm talking about. I thought it was something with the upper strut mount or the strut bar myself until I read about/noticed the AC correlation. |

Very weird. If it's directly underneath the seat, I would check the middle underbrace, as that would be subjet to the most flex and possible noise due to it not being torqued to the proper ft-lb.

It's pretty obvious to me that there's quite a bit of pressure built up behind the flap before it finally releases, which makes that loud pop. I'm not sure what's holding it up but perhaps someone can take their air filter off and check out the assembly. |

It happens when the car takes a lot of heat outside and the a/c is immediately on for a couple of minutes, take a little bump in the road and POP.
I'm just used to it. It's fun when I get people in and see the expression they put in their face haha.

open your hood, look in the top left corner. its the thing that has about 3 bolts and it, holds your shock/strut on the car. easy to spot.
