Brace yourselves...
Car is not even 3 weeks old (picked it up on the 8th). Nevermind the dirt; it was going to get washed tomorrow. Least of my concerns at this point. They brought in a generator to work as a fail-safe while they do some maintenance. "Driver says" the trailer was off the truck and it rolled back into my door. Its plausible, but the angle they pulled the truck in makes me question in. Going to the body shop tomorrow to quote the fix. Looks like nothing is damaged inside the door and its just the skin. |

Ouch. Man, that sucks.
On the positive side, if it only got the skin, should make for an easier and faster repair - goes without saying you should insist on OEM parts and a top of the line body shop on that guy's nickel. G/L with the repair, let us know how it works out |

Unbelievable. The damage appears to be relatively minor and isolated to the door… but as Bama says, getting the responsible party to pay to have it repaired correctly is the trick. Hopefully the fact that it wasn't a parking lot hit and run will expedite the process.

So my E90 was hit while parked as well, and I learned something too late that I wish I'd known: Some states (CA is one) will allow you to seek (in addition to the cost of the repair) something called depreciated value compensation (wording probably differs state to state). Basically, you can get extra money to cover the cost of the fact that the value of your car has depreciated now more than it would have if it was accident free. Ask your insurance company (or theirs) about it. I wish I had. Good luck man!

speechless. Ask around and see who does the best work. Do not go somewhere that your insurance or the RP's insurance recommends for that matter, other than to obtain an estimate if they require you to do so. It is your choice by law no matter how they try to persuade you.

Aww, Worra may have a twin? Hard to tell without details though whether that's jet black, black sapphire, or carbon black at one of the angles where you only subtly see hints of blue. The more I look at it the more it turns into carbon black in my eyes.

Sapphire black metallic; taupe leather; premium pkg; tech pkg; heated seats...#592 out of 613. Funny though...I was waiting until next summer for a new car. I heard the 1 was out and the 2 was in so I did some research. The 2 just looked too bland to me so I had to strike while the iron was hot on the 135is; no regrets!

My next mod (if you can call it that) is window tint. We can go to 27% here in Colorado, so I might try and go 25% all around (windshield not included). Do they do a 25% tint? Anyway, welcome! I just crossed 700 miles on mine today. Beautiful day for a drive here. 55 and sunny. Not much traffic out there. Enjoy! |

Yes they are tinted, but I don't know what %. I told them something in the middle, not too light or too dark. I had it done right at the dealership before I took delivery. Roads out here in southwest Texas aren't the best, and lots of cops! Oh well, decent weather most of the time at least.

You're a mind-reader. I'm getting close and was going to start asking for advice about the big 1,200. Definitely going to do the oil change. But is that all I need to do? Any advice for me as I get closer to 1,200? How much does the dealer typically charge for an unscheduled oil change like this? TIA. |

Congratulations and welcome! Car looks beautiful!!! I cross-shopped more than a dozen other cars, but when I drove the 1-series I bonded with it immediately. I'm absolutely loving every minute of it, and I'm sure you will too.

Although 30% is a bit darker than I would have preferred, but it really made a big difference in interior temperature during warm weather. The car isn't as hot when I get in, and the A/C doesn't work as hard.

As far as the post break-in oil change, I think most people just get the normal oil and filter change. There are some people, mostly with 6MT, who also will do the transmission and differential fluids, as well. I just got standard oil change, which check your local dealer's website for coupons, specials, either in their service special or sometimes "value service" section, but is usually like $70-$80. They likely won't ever list a 1-series, too, so I used the 3-series coupon. I think someone was quoted 3-400 bucks to do the additional fluids on a DCT, so check with the 6MT folk here for opinions on the additional potential services. And some people think it's overkill and are just going by standard service guidelines, so opinions differ quite a bit. I decided to treat it like an M car, so gave it a post break-in oil change and a lovely set of Michelin PSS. |
