My Story:
I have a 2012 135i Lemans blue DCT. I e-mailed cobb my vin#, and they said I should have no issue. However when I tried to hook up my accessport, it would not recognize the car. Cobb told me my software was out of date and would have to be updated. I finally took my car to a local shop that had an auto logic tool. (BMW shops around here were no help, they did not want to update my software. I even offered to pay, still denied.) I reached success after having my car updated with autologic tool. The Accessport was final able to recognize my car.
Now here is the plot twist. The local shop, who had great reviews in my area, said the car would lose the tune if I unplugged the accessport. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Far as I know, the software is flashed into the computer. Unplugging the AP should only disable the extra functions the AP provides.

Not true. The AP only needs to be plugged in for logging/diag functions.

Cobb stage 1 sport tune, no other mods. I blew my stock charge pipe two weeks ago, which the dealership replaced. It felt like it was down on power but I couldn't tell if it is my imagination. Took it back to the dealership, shop foreman drove it a few times, didn't' find any issues. I reinstalled the Cobb tune so I could monitor things, took a quick log.

Old log from a year ago, which looks normal: http://datazap.me/u/adam/4-5-2013
Current log has me worried: http://datazap.me/u/adam/3-1-2014-10...=0&zoom=11-216
Full current log: http://datazap.me/u/adam/3-1-2014-10am

Seems like boost is bouncing all over, and peaking 19 psi?! Not seeing any vacuum at idle. And the scientific measure, it doesn't spin the tires as easily as it used to. Turbo or wastegate problem?

don't think its mechanical.
how long did you drive before recording the log?
how does the car feel? like the curves (edgy) or smooth?
try to start recording immediately before stepping on it and then keep the pedal all the way down until 6000rpm.

Not that long- 5 mins. It feels like it is driving fine, not rough at all. The boost numbers look within spec? They seem high which could have caused the charge pipe to fail?

I'll try to get a better log.

You have a lot of throttle closures in the log due to load overshoots. When the throttle closes, the MAP sensor sees extra boost because the throttle blade is not allowing it to enter the engine. This is not boost entering the engine.
The charge pipes have been known to fail even at stock levels unfortunately, but it seemed the early build dates had more issues, so maybe they changed the manufacturing of the pipe itself (hopefully). Drive the car for a little while to give the car a chance to adapt. If the closures are still there, contact me and I can explain how to correct the issue with ATR.

Odd that you're seeing this after a dealer visit. It was common for the techs to tighten the WGs on the N54s to get rid of rattle and this would then cause the car to overshoot requests...

-Josh

EDIT: Just realized that was not a WOT log. Get a WOT 3rd gear log with traction control completely disabled and we'll be able to have a much better look.

This is completely incorrect. Perhaps your shop thinks the AP is a piggyback device? Either way, you definitely do not need to keep the AP plugged in.

I just uninstalled my Cobb AP v2 (N54) since I'm taking the car into the dealer next week. Sadness. I was fairly happy with the N54 bone stock - now I know what I'm missing.

Anyway, I was in a hurry and quickly checked the codes before uninstalling, and I could swear that it said E2AB4. Unfortunately, I'm seeing nothing on google nor this forum on this code. Does it sound familiar to anyone?

Additionally, after uninstalling I had a warm-up drive - about 5 miles. Then the car threw the P2AAF code. Is this anything to be worried about after uninstalling the Cobb? It appears to be a fairly common issue, I was wondering if it had anything to do with the uninstall of the Cobb.

Thanks.

When I was at the strip tonight, the car would hesitate after every hard shift.

Is this normal or is there something I should be looking for?

6MT? If so this is a load/boost overshoot issue. Try slighty slowing your shifts down and you will notice a marked improvement in post shift recovery. Alternatively, you can invest in a WOT box to help mitigate the issues.

Hopefully, Cobb can soon provide us with the tools to eliminate the issue through flash only.

I see Cobb V3 has the ability to adjust idle revs, has anyone with DCT raised the idle revs and was able to eliminate take off lag?

How difficult is to install WOT box on N54 Cobb, what would I need for that?

Googling N54 WOT box DIY should return quite a few results.

Thanks I found it... Is it still possible to rev match when you have it installed?

It should only be active when accelerator pedal position is 100%. Rev matching shouldn't be an issue.

2011 135 convertible N55 Cobb can't find ROM for Accessport

I have driven 100miles twice to the Cobb facility in Plano to attempt to get an accessport. 1st time they said I needed to update the DME. Did that today. Returned and still no go. They think it's because I have a convert. Are there not ANY verts out there that have a Cobb tune???

Otherwise, I'll go with JB4 if I can't get this settled soon.

This does not sound right... try emailing josh.dankel@cobbtuning.com and see what Josh says.

It sounds to me like you have an unidentified ROM that needs to be dumped and sent into Cobb for a revision.
