Arrow BMW 1M Single Turbo Build

Hi guys.. Just finished my ST build on the 1M and wanted to create this for everyone eles who's done the ST or is planning on it... It's working great. The low to mid range is lost, due to the lag, but once it kicks in it's fantastic. Couldn't be happier... We did everything in house, similar to the fftec top mount kit.. Here's a few pics... Turbo is a Garrett gtx3582r.. Anyone else went single turbo?

Here's a dyno sheet on my local dyno. Note they use a correction factor due to the high altitude. So I'm guessing around 620-650whp. Im using a clutchmasters 850r cause the stock clutch couldnt hold. For tuning Im jb4 g5 with st firmware and backened flash. Currently on meth and around e20. The 4 injectors on the charge pipe are there cause Im switching to full e100 which we have available where I live. So I've added the 4 extra injectors and a separate fuel controller to deal. Not working yet!! But hopefully soon!!!! The turbo is amazing. And I've added a Tial housing for the compressor to quicken up spool a bit...

Holy crap that's a big turbo. What are you targeting, ~600 hp at the wheels? What RPM do you spool at now?

Wow! That looks like a serious setup!

Some questions:
-Any dyno charts?
-What are those 4 injectors on your charge pipe?
-How is the tuning managed? Tuned OEM DME, or some sort of standalone system?

That's a great choice for the motor OP, you'll comfortably clear 600 wheel assuming octane and fuel are there. What metal did you use for the manifold? SCH10?

Edit: and is that Port fueling you've set up? Any reasons as to why you are spraying pre-TB with that much fuel? Are you batch firing - regardless how are you controlling that?

When you say "twin turbos" do you mean stock frames? Or more broadly, keeping the exhaust banks completely separate via two turbos and separate manifolds, regardless of size.

So for example VTT is coming with twins. Is that what you mean by twin turbos? Or are we just talking stock frame twins.

I'm referring to the stock frame 2 turbos on the n54. Why moving to single turbo and not upgrading those 2 turbos ?

You can certainly retain a twin turbo setup, ultimately that will probably be ideal for spool purposes. The tuning can also get a bit screwy when you merge the two exhaust banks into one for a single conversion, o2 sensor placement becomes tricky and i'm still not quite convinced that there isn't some funky long-term trim behavior as a result. Everything needs to move pre-turbo where the exhaust gasses are still split.

Stock frame turbos run out of breath up top (though they spool-up very quickly down low). They are also "journal bearing" turbos and are not as robust as turbos using ball bearings!

Twin GTX35s
You need to separate the 2 o2 sensors. 1 for cyl 1-3 and 1 for the others. Its quite simple. The twins ran out of breath at high rpms. The st is insane at high. Im currently on 23psi.

Alexim when you get the fuel crank up the boost! That turbo has a ton of headroom left in it. Nicely done man.

What tires are you running? 4th gear, 100-130 mph is probably pretty good...

Im on yokohama neova. 295 rear 265 front. It spins in 3rd when cold, but when warm 3rd and up is fantastic!

It sort of is man... I tracked it last year on pouring rain and it was just ridiculous... Even on the dry it VERY tail happy once it kicks in... But it's manageable and quite fun once you get used to the power...

It really is quite a lot for such a short wheelbase, would've been better on a 335i I suspect, but I love this car and am very satisfied!!!
