Cayman gt4

The spy shots and details have me very very intrigued. Still wouldn't trade the 1m for it. But it would be a fantastic addition.

It seems to the "perfect" Porsche. Damnit. I'm gonna swing by there tomorrow and see what the deal is.

LOVE IT!

It doesn't capture my imagination like the 1M does----BUT objectively speaking the Cayman GT4 is probably my favourite production sports car in the world right now. I'm going to guess that this will have a loooong waiting list...and that prices for this may also never go down.

check out this video!

I like the fact that they crammed that 3.8L Carrera engine in there. This car is basically as good as it gets, everything is checked off on my list

The Cayman on a less tight 911 leash + manual only. If it really matters about enjoying to drive a hardcore version: manual.

See also the lengthy Cayman GT4 thread in the M2 section: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1061058

They must have gotten some inspiration from the 1M package and success too: cram GT3 bits and pieces into the smaller car, sober interior with alcantara and make it manual only (of course also to keep it a little bit slower than the bigger brother - well, at least on paper).

Other interview:

Agreed. I would be tempted, but (un) Fortunately I can't afford it.

£ 65K has got to be 90k or more in the US.

I am sure this will far exceed the Cayman R price.

Yes, but not that far off from the GTS.

At this point, they can just take my money. I'm sold.

Got my name down for one already but not as excited about it as i was before.
I hoped the gt4 would be turbo'd or atleast 400bhp and a tad lighter.
I may hold out for a gt4 rs to be released.

3000 Lbs for a contemporary car is rather light.

I found the lighter dual-mass flywheel interesting.

Will be interesting to see if this has any affect on the 997 GT3 market.

i doubt it will, doesnt look anywhere near as competent as the gt3 which is a shame as the Cayman arguably has the better chassis.

i'm curious why you say that? I feel this is probably every bit as fast as the GT3 but at a significantly lower price

Beautiful car, sounds just about perfect. I'll take one.

I doubt it will cut into the 997 GT3 market, as this will always still be "just a Cayman" to those who have to have a 997.

Maybe i'm being down hearted as the rumours suggested a turbo'd gts engine was on the cards at one point-which would have been awesome.

It doesnt look as good as the pre release spy shots either.
Plus i'm hearing from the dealership that it will be a ltd run, however others have been told that Porsche will build the car to order meaning there may well be a chance of better options added to the spec list at a later date.

Hence why i'm thinking of pulling out and waiting to see if they do a gt4 rs further down the line.

I'll only buy a new car if i'm certain that the value isnt going to drop as soon as i've driven it.
Which means it being ltd and fun is are key factors for me.

It goes on sale this July for $84,600, plus a $995 destination charge (if you refrain from opening the telephone book of option$).

I feel sick saying this, but that is actually pretty good value considering a base 911 starts at 85k.
